Nerella Sharada is a women's rights activist,an Indian National Congress politician and an executive committee member of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). She is state president of the women's wing of the TPCC and secretary of the All India Mahila Congress. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Nerella Sharada was born in Karimnagar district in telangana.
She was elected as a President of Zilla Parshad in Karimnagar. In October 2004 she was nominated as member-secretary for TPCC Ethics Committee. [5]
In September 2018,Sharada joined protests against the BJP central government over rising fuel prices. [6]
In February 2019,Sharada criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government for nepotism and failure to promote women into ministerial positions. [7] In April,she claimed the state government's failures in the handling of examination results had led to student suicides. [8]
In March 2024 She was appointed as Chairperson of Telangana State Commission for Women and she assumed charge at Buddha Bhavan on 17 July 2024. [9] [10] [11]
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi,formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi,is an Indian political party which is predominantly active in the state of Telangana and currently the primary opposition party in the state. It was founded on 27 April 2001 by K. Chandrashekar Rao,with a single-point agenda of creating a separate Telangana state with Hyderabad as its capital. Alka Lamba is an Indian politician serving for the President of All India Mahila Congress. After serving the Indian National Congress in various capacities for more than 20 years,she quit to join the Aam Aadmi Party on 26 December 2014. In February 2015,Lamba was elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly from Chandni Chowk. She quit AAP in September 2019 citing disrespect for her within the party. On 6 September 2019,she formally returned to the Congress party. With the INC in government in Telangana since December 2023 after the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election,the committee is actively involved in governance and party affairs.
