Neria R. Douglass (born 1952) is an American attorney and politician who served as State Treasurer of Maine. [1] Priorly,she served as State Auditor and also represented Auburn in the Maine Senate. [2] [3] She is a member of the Democratic Party.
Douglass was the chair of the Auburn School Committee from 1989 to 1994,and she served on the Auburn City Council from 1994 to 1998.
Douglass began her term as State Treasurer on January 7,2013. [4] Douglass stated after being sworn in that she hopes to persuade Governor Paul LePage to authorize the sale of voter-approved bonds,something which LePage has said he won't do until the State's financial picture improves. [5]
Maine Democrats nominated Douglass to serve a second term,but the Legislature selected the nominee suggested by Republicans,Teresea Hayes,a former Democrat. [6]
Michael Herman Michaud is an American businessman and politician from Maine. Michaud served as the U.S. representative for Maine's 2nd congressional district from 2003 to 2015. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The primarily rural district comprises nearly 80% of the state by area and includes the cities of Lewiston,Auburn,Bangor,Presque Isle,and Ellsworth. A Democrat,Dunlap served as Secretary of State of Maine from January 7,2013,to January 4,2021,and previously served in that same post from 2005 to 2011. In 2012,he sought to become his party's nominee to replace retiring Olympia Snowe,but lost in the primary to State Senator Cynthia Dill. Prior to his first election as secretary of state in 2005,he represented Old Town in the Maine House of Representatives for four terms beginning in 1996. On December 2,2020,Dunlap was elected Maine State Auditor by the Maine Legislature and took office on January 4,2021. Dunlap had to vacate the position after failing the exams needed to meet the requirements of the position the following October,and was replaced by Jacob Norton. He did later meet the requirements and was selected for the position again on November 14,2022.
Elizabeth H. Mitchell is an American politician from Maine. Mitchell,a Democrat,represented Vassalboro,which is part of Kennebec County in the Maine Senate from 2004 to 2010. Mitchell was also the Democrats' 2010 candidate for the office of Governor of Maine. She finished in third place behind Republican Paul LePage and unenrolled attorney Eliot Cutler. A member of the Republican Party,he represented Maine's 2nd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019. Poliquin was first elected to Congress in the 2014 general election. From 2010 to 2012,he was the 49th Maine State Treasurer. He was a candidate for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in 2012,finishing second in the primary election. In January 2017,at the start of the 115th Congress,Poliquin was the sole Republican representing a U.S. House district in New England.
