This was a pilot for an unsold Western series. [2] These characters were first introduced in the theatrical feature of the same title in 1966, and before that in 1964's The Carpetbaggers . Potts and Greene had the roles played earlier by Steve McQueen and Brian Keith (in the namesake movie) and by Alan Ladd and Leif Erickson in The Carpetbaggers. [2]

Lorne Hyman Greene was a Canadian actor, musician, singer and radio personality. His notable television roles include Ben Cartwright on the Western Bonanza and Commander Adama in the original science-fiction television series Battlestar Galactica and Galactica 1980.
