Nicholas Yatromanolakis (Greek:ΝικόλαςΓιατρομανωλάκης,born:1975) is a Greek politician and political scientist who served as Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Greece,responsible for contemporary appointed by Kyriakos Mitsotakis from 2021 to 2023. Prior to that,he served as the General Secretary for Contemporary Culture from 2019 to 2021. [1] He is the first openly LGBT person to hold a ministerial position in Greece. [2]
Nicholas Yatromanolakis was born in Athens,Greece in March,1975. His father is the writer and academic Yorgis Yatromanolakis and his mother Rena Lecanidou,also an academic. He hold a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Political Science from Panteion University and a Master's in Public Administration (MPP) from John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University in the United States.
From January 2017 until July 2019,he held the position of the CMO of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. In the past he had worked as a senior executive in Greek and multinational companies such as Microsoft,V+O Communication,S&B Industrial Minerals and the TV station Alpha TV,as well as at the Hellenic Foundation for European &Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and Harvard University,but also as an independent consultant for strategy,corporate affairs and communication. His work has been awarded in Greece and abroad. In 2013 he was selected as a Marshall Memorial Fellow. In 2019 he was elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Harvard Club of Greece.
Among other publications,he has co-edited the book New Approaches to Balkan Studies [3] and has contributed in the Global Competitiveness Report 2001 edition of the World Economic Forum. He was the scientific editor of the Greek edition of NATO Handbook,and the head of publications of ELIAMEP in 1996–98.
He was a founding member and member of the Political Planning Committee in Potami and he was the party's campaign manager for the European elections in 2014, [4] while in the parliamentary elections in January 2015. [5] He was ranked second in votes in A 'Athens electoral district. He left the party in 2016.
He has been active in the field of human rights and in particular the rights of LGBT+ people,and has participated voluntarily in non-profit organizations for the social inclusion of vulnerable populations,and the physical and mental health of children. He openly identifies as gay. [6]
From the 1st of August 2019,he assumed the duties of General Secretary of Contemporary Culture in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He is the first to hold this office,as this General Secretariat did not exist before.
In the reshuffle of January 4,2021,he took over as Deputy Minister of Culture for Contemporary Culture in the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. [7] Again,he is the first to hold this office,as this position did not exist before.
New Democracy is a Christian democratic and conservative political party in Greece. In contemporary Greek politics,New Democracy has been the main centre-right political party and one of the two major parties along with its historic rival,the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK). New Democracy and PASOK were created in the wake of the toppling of the military junta in 1974,and ruled Greece alternately for the next four decades. Following the electoral decline of PASOK,New Democracy remained one of the two major parties in Greece,the other being the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA). The party was founded in 1974 by Konstantinos Karamanlis and in the same year it formed the first cabinet of the Third Hellenic Republic. New Democracy is a member of the European People's Party,the largest European political party since 1999,the Centrist Democrat International,and the International Democrat Union.
Konstantinos Mitsotakis was a Greek politician who was Prime Minister of Greece from 1990 to 1993. He graduated in law and economics from the University of Athens. His son,Kyriakos Mitsotakis,was elected as the Prime Minister of Greece following the 2019 Greek legislative election.
Theodora "Dora" Bakoyanni is a Greek politician. From 2006 to 2009 she was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece,the highest position ever to have been held by a woman in the Cabinet of Greece at the time;she was also Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in 2009. Previously she was the Mayor of Athens from 2003 to 2006,the first female mayor in the city's history,and the first woman to serve as mayor of a city hosting the Olympic Games. She also served as Minister for Culture of Greece from 1992 to 1993.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis is a Greek politician who has been prime minister of Greece since June 2023 and before from July 2019 to May 2023. He is president of the New Democracy party since 2016. On 26 June 2023,Mitsotakis won a second term as prime minister after winning the June 2023 Greek legislative election. Mitsotakis previously was Leader of the Opposition from 2016 to 2019,and Minister of Administrative Reform from 2013 to 2015. He is the son of the late Konstantinos Mitsotakis,who was Prime Minister of Greece from 1990 to 1993. He was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament for the Athens B constituency in 2004. After New Democracy suffered two election defeats in 2015,he was elected the party's leader in January 2016. Three years later,he led his party to a majority in the 2019 Greek legislative election.

Greece and the United Kingdom maintain excellent and cordial relations and consider each other an ally with the Greek Prime Minister,Kyriakos Mitsotakis,paying an official visit to London in 2021. Greece and the United Kingdom are both members of the United Nations,NATO and the Council of Europe. The United Kingdom is also viewed very favorably in Greece. According to a global opinion poll,77% of Greeks view the United Kingdom favourably,while only 10% don't. The British have a very positive opinion of Greece as well. 66% of the British view Greece positively,while only 3% view it negatively,making Greece one of the most liked countries in the UK.
People's Republic of China has an embassy in Athens. The Hellenic Republic has an embassy in Beijing and three general consulates in Guangzhou,Hong-Kong and since 2005 in Shanghai. The Port of Piraeus is important from a geostrategic view for China,as it helps China's transactions with the whole of Europe. Thousands of Chinese people are living in Greece in the Overseas Chinese context and approximately 1000 Greek citizens are living in China. Modern diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1972. Today,Greece and China enjoy a very good relationship based on a solid foundation,which continues to be growing steadily.

Modern diplomatic relations between the two countries were established right after Italy's unification,and are today regarded as cordial. The two states cooperate in fields of energy,security,culture and tourism,and are major trading partners,both in exports and imports.
