Nick Archer is an American politician who has served as the Oklahoma House of Representatives member from the 55th district since November 16,2022.
Nick Archer was born in Sayre,Oklahoma,and his family moved to Elk City,Oklahoma,when he was a child. He graduated from Elk City High School and the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in architecture. He is married to his wife and they have two children. [1]
Archer works for Great Plains Analytical Services,a company that provides emissions testing for oil and gas companies. [2] He also owns a firearm company,HFJ Outdoors. [2] [3]
In 2013,Archer moved back to Elk City,Oklahoma. He served on Elk City's zoning commission before later being elected mayor in 2019. [1] He resigned in November 2022 and was succeeded by Cory Spieker. [4]
Archer announced his campaign for the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2022 to succeed retiring Representative Todd Russ. Tad Boone and Jeff Sawatzky also launched campaigns for the office. [2] Archer won the primary outright avoiding a runoff and since no non-Republican candidate filed for the office there was no general election. [5] He was sworn in on November 16,2022. [6] He was one of twenty early Oklahoma lawmakers who endorsed Ron DeSantis for the 2024 presidential election. [7]
Terry O'Donnell is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party who served as the Oklahoma House Representative for the 23rd district from January 8,2013,to November 20,2024. He first won elected office in the 2012 Oklahoma state elections. In January 2021,O'Donnell was promoted to be the speaker pro tempore of the Oklahoma House of Representatives,the second highest ranking Republican Party of Oklahoma member in the state house. On December 17,2021,O'Donnell was indicted in relation to a tag agency corruption scandal. He resigned as speaker pro tempore on February 2,2022 but later rejoined House Republican leadership in 2023 as majority whip,"a position that involves coordinating the teams of legislators that whip vote counts ahead of key bills."
