Nick Monroe (born May 25, 1979) is an American football coach who is currently the co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Coaching career

Monroe got his first career coaching job in 2002 with Allegheny College as the team's secondary coach. [1] In 2004, Monroe was hired by the Colgate Red Raiders where he coached for the next six years serving in various roles and finishing his tenure as the team's co-defensive coordinator. [2] In 2010, Monroe was hired by the Bowling Green Falcons to coach the team's safeties. [3] In 2016, Monroe was hired by the Syracuse Orange to be the team's secondary coach. [4] In 2018, Monroe transitioned to primarily coach Syracuse's safeties. [5] In 2022, Mornoe become Syracuse's safeties coach and pass game coordinator. [6] For the 2023 Pinstripe Bowl, Monroe was temperley promoted to serve as the Orange's defensive coordinator. [7] In 2023, Monroe joined the Minnesota Golden Gophers, as the team's co-defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach. [8]

The 2009 Minnesota Golden Gophers football team was the third under head coach Tim Brewster. They began play on September 5, 2009, at Syracuse, a member of the Big East Conference. On September 12, the Minnesota opened the new TCF Bank Stadium with a 20–13 win against Air Force, moving from the Metrodome, which had been their home stadium since 1982. The Golden Gophers finished the season 6–7 and 3–5 in Big Ten play and lost 13–14 to Iowa State in the Insight Bowl. Despite the worse overall record, the Golden Gophers only suffered two blowout losses in the 2009 season, compared to 3 in 2008.

Paul Jeffrey Haynes III is an American college football coach and former player. He is the current cornerbacks coach for the Wisconsin Badgers football team and the former head football coach at Kent State University, a position he held for five seasons. Haynes previously served as an assistant coach at the high school, collegiate and professional levels for 20 years, including stints as defensive coordinator at Ohio State University and the University of Arkansas. Prior to his coaching career, he was a four-year letterman as a defensive back at Kent State between 1987 and 1991.

The 2013 Texas Bowl is an American college football bowl game that was played on December 27, 2013 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.
