Nieuw Land National Park (New Land National Park; Dutch: Nationaal Park Nieuw Land) is a national park in the Dutch province of Flevoland.
It was established on October 1, 2018, when Minister Carola Schouten visited the province to make the announcement. [3] The national park is managed by the organizations Flevo-landschap, Staatsbosbeheer, and Natuurmonumenten. [2] The total surface area amounts to 289 km2 (112 sq mi), of which over 75% is water. [3] The land, mostly wetlands, is part of the artificial island Flevopolder. [1] Nature reserves that are part of the national park include the Oostvaardersplassen, the Lepelaarplassen, the lake Markermeer, and the artificial archipelago Marker Wadden. [1] Some of those areas were already protected Natura 2000 sites before the park's creation. [3] Nieuw Land National Park is visited by numerous species of migratory birds. [4]
In 2019, governments and nature organizations committed to spending €470 million in the next twenty years to develop the park and to connect its separate parts. [5]
Flevoland is the twelfth and newest province of the Netherlands, established in 1986, when the southern and eastern Flevopolders, together with the Noordoostpolder, were merged into one provincial entity. It is in the centre of the country in the former Zuiderzee, which was turned into the freshwater IJsselmeer by the closure of the Afsluitdijk in 1932. Almost all of the land belonging to Flevoland was reclaimed in the 1950s and 1960s while splitting the Markermeer and Bordering lakes from the IJsselmeer. As to dry land, it is the smallest province of the Netherlands at 1,410 km2 (540 sq mi), but not gross land as that includes much of the waters of the fresh water lakes (meres) mentioned.

The Dutch farmers' protests are a series of demonstrations by Dutch livestock farmers, characterised by the use of tractors to block roads, and occupy public spaces. The protests were initially triggered in October 2019 by a proposal in parliament to halve the country's livestock in an attempt to limit agricultural pollution in the Netherlands, but protesting farmers have frequently told media that they are motivated by a perceived lack of respect for their profession by the Dutch populace, media and politicians. The protests combined several action groups and an amalgamation of larger goals, which included less government regulation for farmers, more air time for pro-farmer sentiments, and more policy to punish Shell and Tata Steel for their part in the emission crisis.
