On March 14, 2018, Antani made headlines by appearing to suggest that students who were over the age of 18 should be allowed to bring rifles to school in their cars. The following day, after substantial press, Niraj backtracked and said that he did a poor job of stating his position. [12]

Personal life

Outside of the Ohio Senate, Antani is a member of the National Rifle Association of America and Dayton Right to Life. [10] He was a member of the Rotary Club of Miamisburg, is the former President of the Miamisburg High School Alumni Association, and a former executive board member of the non-profit Dayton International Festival, Inc.

In 2015, Niraj was added to Forbes Magazine's list of the top “30 under 30” people in the U.S. for Law & Policy in 2015. [13]

Beginning in 2018, Antani started serving on the national board of the Republican State Leadership Committee's Future Majority Project. [14]

Antani has received the Legislator of the Year Award by the AMVETS Department of Ohio for his work on veterans issues. [10]

He practices Hinduism. [15]

Ohio's 6th senatorial district has always been based in Dayton, Ohio. It consists of about two-thirds of Montgomery County. It encompasses Ohio House districts 40, 41 and 42. It has a Cook PVI of R+9. Its current Ohio Senator is Republican Niraj Antani. He resides in Miamisburg, Ohio, a city located in Montgomery County, Ohio.

Timothy E. Ginter is an American politician from Ohio. He served as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. He has served in the House of Representatives since 2015, representing District 5. Ginter is an ordained minister, and has also worked in various other occupations. He ran against Jason Wilson in 2008 for the Ohio Senate, but lost. In 2014, Ginter replaced Craig Newbold as the Republican candidate for state representative in the 5th district. Ginter went on to defeat incumbent Democrat Nick Barborak in the 2014 general election with 59% of the vote. He is a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association of America, Buckeye Firearms Association, Salem Chamber of Commerce, an associate member of the Columbiana County Township Association, a member of the Columbiana County Republican Party Central Committee, and currently serves as an appointed member of the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood.

Paul Zeltwanger is an American accountant and politician who was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from the 54th district. Zeltwanger succeeded Peter Beck, who was facing dozens of felony charges. He won the primary with 51% of the vote, and won the general election with 72% of the vote. Zeltwanger works as a real-estate developer. He is also a certified public accountant.

A. Nino Vitale is an American politician who served in the Ohio House of Representatives from the 85th House district from 2015 to 2022.

Bill Dean is an American politician serving as the state representative for the 74th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a Republican. The district includes Madison County as well as portions of Clark County and Greene County.

Candice Keller is an American politician and former state representative for the 53rd District of the Ohio House of Representatives, which includes part of Butler County. A Republican, in 2019, she proposed legislation to ban and criminalize abortion in Ohio.

Tracy Richardson is an American politician who has served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives representing the 86th district since 2019. A Republican, Richardson's district includes Union County and the majority of Marion County. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, Richardson served in Operation Desert Shield where she earned a Bronze Star. She currently serves in the Army National Guard. Prior to elected office, Richardson served as a human resources officer for a number of different companies. She also served on the Marysville City Council for nearly nine years.

The 2020 Ohio general elections were held on November 3, 2020 throughout the US state of Ohio. The office of the Ohio Secretary of State oversees the election process, including voting and vote counting.

Willis Blackshear Jr. is a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives representing the 38th district. He was elected in 2020, defeating Republican John Ferrell Mullins III with 79% of the vote. Prior to his election the Ohio House, Blackshear worked in the Montgomery County Auditor's Office as an outreach specialist.

Tom Young is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives representing the 37th district. He was elected in 2020 unopposed. Young first attempted to run for House District 42 in 2014, but could not gain enough support from the Montgomery County Republican party, losing the nomination to now Senator Niraj Antani.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2024 Ohio Senate election</span>

The 2024 Ohio Senate elections will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect senators in 16 even-numbered districts of the Ohio Senate. Members will be elected in single-member constituencies to four-year terms. In addition, there will be a special election in District 33 for the remainder of that district's term ending in 2026. These elections will be held concurrently with various federal and state elections, including for U.S. President and U.S. Senate.
