Nirmal Sahadev is an Indian film director, screenwriter and actor who works in the Malayalam film industry. He is best known for his directorial debut, Ranam (2018).

Early life

Nirmal Sahadev was born in Thrithala, Palakkad. [2] He completed his primary education at The Abu Dhabi Indian School.[ citation needed ] He graduated with a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta and is a graduate of the New York Film Academy. [2]

Film career

Sahadev started his film career in Malayalam as an assistant director for the film Colours (2009).[ citation needed ] Later, he worked as an assistant for the film Monsoon Mangoes (2016). He also directed an English short film, titled "Sleep" (2012). He made his directorial debut in 2018 with the film Ranam. [3] [4]

The Goat Life(Aadujeevitham) is a 2024 Malayalam language survival drama film written, directed, and co-produced by Blessy. The film is an international co-production involving companies in India and the United States. It is an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel Aadujeevitham by Benyamin, which is based on the real-life story of Najeeb, a Malayali immigrant laborer in the Gulf. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran alongside Jimmy Jean-Louis and K. R. Gokul, Talib Al Balushi, Rik Aby, Amala Paul and Shobha Mohan. The film was initially banned in the GCC countries other than UAE, subsequently the ban was lifted in all the countries except in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The novel was also previously banned in the same countries.

Ranam: Detroit Crossing is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Nirmal Sahadev and produced by Yes Cinema Production and Lawson Entertainment. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Rahman and Isha Talwar. It is partially inspired from 2011 American film Drive. Ranam was released on 6 September 2018 to mixed reviews from critics, but was declared a sleeper hit. Over the years, the film and its soundtrack has acquired a cult status due to its aesthetic making, songs and an Indo-American crossover.

L2: Empuraan, also called L2E, is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language action thriller film directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. It is the second installment in a planned trilogy, following the 2019 film Lucifer. The film is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas. It stars Mohanlal Reprise's his role as Khureshi-Ab'raam / Stephen Nedumpally alongside an ensemble featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, Fazil and Sachin Khedekar all of whom are reprising their roles from the original.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language comedy film directed by Vipin Das, written by Deepu Pradeep and jointly produced by Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainment. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, Nikhila Vimal, and Anaswara Rajan.

<i>The Goat Life</i> (soundtrack) 2024 soundtrack album by A. R. Rahman

The Goat Life is the soundtrack to the Malayalam-language survival drama film of the same name written, directed and co-produced by Blessy, and starred Prithviraj Sukumaran, which is an adaptation of the eponymous 2008 Malayalam novel by Benyamin. The six-song soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman featured five songs with lyrics written by Rafeeq Ahamed and Rahman himself, along with an instrumental number. Vijay Yesudas, Chinmayi, Sana Moussa, Raja Hasan, Jithin Raj, Rakshita Suresh, Murtuza and Faiz Mustafa had also contributed vocals for the songs. The soundtrack was released on 17 March 2024 through Visual Romance Music.
