Nishan is a Bengali language action drama film directed by S.S. Balan. [2] This film was released on 4 August 1978 under the banner of Gemini Production Circuit Private Limited. [3] [4]
The story concerns two neighbouring kingdoms and their vendetta. Uttam Kumar played a double role as twin princes Bijay and Bikram.
Music direction was done by Shyamal Mitra and Lyricist was Gouri Prasanna Majumdar. [6] Lead singers of the film are Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Chandrani Mukherjee, Arati Mukhopadhyay and Shyamal Mitra. [7]

Uttam Kumar, widely known as Mahanayak, was an Indian film actor, producer, director, screenwriter, composer, and playback singer who predominantly worked in Bengali cinema. His career spanned three decades, from the late 1940s until his death in 1980. Kumar is regarded as one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema and also the most popular and successful film star in Bengal.
Tarun Majumdar was an Indian film director, documentary filmmaker, author, illustrator and screenwriter who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. He received five National Awards, seven BFJA Awards, five Filmfare Awards and an Anandalok Award. In 1990, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award. He is recognized as one of the greatest influential filmmakers of India. His few movies were restored and digitized by the National Film Archive of India, along with his Contemporaries Arabinda Mukhopadhyay, Goutam Ghose. Ogo Bodhu Shundori English: Hey Beautiful Bride) is a 1981 Bengali comedy film, directed by Salil Dutta. It was one of the last films of the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who died during production. A lookalike, Prabir Kumar, was brought in to stand in for Kumar for the final sections of the film and for the song O Daddy, O Mummy. The film starred also Moushumi Chatterjee, Sumitra Mukherjee, Ranjit Mallick and Santosh Dutta. The movie is a Bengali reworking of the story of Pygmalion, heavily drawing upon the British musical My Fair Lady.
Amanush is a 1974 Indian bilingual action film simultaneously shot in Bengali and Hindi languages, co-written, produced and directed by Shakti Samanta, under his banner of Shakti Films. Based on Shaktipada Rajguru's novel Naya Basat, which was written being plotted on the Sundarbans, the film stars Uttam Kumar in the titular role, alongside Sharmila Tagore, Utpal Dutt, Anil Chatterjee and Prema Narayan in lead roles, while Abhi Bhattacharya, Amarnath Mukherjee and Asit Sen play other pivotal roles, with Shambhu Bhattacharya in a special appearance. The soundtrack and background score was composed by Shyamal Mitra, with Bengali and Hindi lyrics penned by Gauriprasanna Mazumder and Indeevar respectively. The Bengali and Hindi screenplay was written by Shaktipada Rajguru himself and Kamleshwar respectively, while the dialogues for the former and latter version were written by Prabhat Roy, who was also the assistant director of the film, and Kamleshwar respectively.
Shyamal Mitra was an Indian versatile playback singer and music director along with Hemanta Mukherjee and Manna Dey. Mitra had also worked in many Hindi and Bengali films as a music director and film producer. He was the most notable musician of the golden era of Bengali music industry. His baritone voice reflected a range of emotions. Besides recording a huge number of popular Bengali basic songs, he also worked as a playback singer in more than a hundred Bengali films and directed music in more than fifty Bengali films. He also sang in various other Indian languages, like Hindi, Assamese, and Oriya.

Antony Firingee is a 1967 Indian biographical musical drama film directed by Sunil Bannerjee, starring Uttam Kumar and Tanuja on the lead. It is a biopic based on the life of Anthony Firingee, a Bengali language folk poet of Portuguese origin. Antony Firingee was a Portuguese-Indian who became a famous Bengali poet musician and fell in love with Nirupoma. She agreed to marry him after revealing her tragic history. But his fame was not enough to overcome their ostracisation and tragedy struck again.
Pratibad is a 2001 Indian Bengali-language neo-noir action thriller film directed by Haranath Chakraborty. Dhanraj Tamang is a 1978 Indian Bengali language vigilante action film co-written and directed by Pijush Bose based on the story of Charuchandra Chakraborty alias Jorasandha. Plotted in Sittong tea estate, Darjeeling, it revolves around Dhanraj Tamang, a tea estate worker who always fights against the predators who try to rape the women instead of job in the estate. All on a sudden, he gets prisoned for being falsely accused of raping his wife, Phoolmaya. He escapes from the jail to look into the matter and unfortunately discovers his boss to be the mastermind of all the rapes, including of his wife. After taking the revenge, Dhanraj becomes mad and dies in the Ranchi mental asylum.

This was a mental health and a psychological treatment film. The film became a moderate success at the box office.
