No Division is the third full-length album by American post-hardcore band Hot Water Music. It was released by Some Records on August 10, 1999. [6] [7]
Hot Water Music's Jason Black stated of the recording: "[on the last album] we just didn't know what the hell we were doing. So this time around it was nice, we went to a studio and spent maybe two, two and a half weeks and really recorded an album, front to back. [8] The album was produced by Walter Schreifels of Gorilla Biscuits fame. [9] The band recorded the album after a hiatus, vocalist Chuck Ragan stated "I know we were all a hell of a lot more focused going into [it], You can really tell just by listening to it.” [9]
The album was originally scheduled for release on June 1, 1999, but was pushed back to August 10, 1999. [10]
Regarding its musical style, No Division has been labeled as a punk rock album, [11] [12] [13] [14] and under punk subgenres such as emocore, [15] [16] post-hardcore, [15] and hardcore punk. [2] The album includes elements of hard rock, pop-punk, and Southern gospel in the overall sound. [17]
Allmusic stated the album "isn't as strong as the records that preceded it, but, at the end of the day, anything this band has to offer is still a lot more honest and explosive than what most of their peers have." [1] Punknews.org called the album "awesome" stating the band has " their formula of 'emotionally-charged hardcore' down to a tee". [2] Alternative Press praised two songs as "jaw-dropping technical" and praised the sincerity of the album's lyrics. [9] PopMatters called the album "a magnificent testament to what a punk rock band could do if they kept both ears on expanding their sound, but both feet planted in their roots... For one album, Hot Water Music managed to pull off the rare feat of maintaining the energy and politics of punk while embracing a thoroughly rock and roll sound." [13] Ox-Fanzine described the album as a "grandiose, varied and absolutely standalone work". [3]
The song "Rooftops" was covered by Alkaline Trio on the Alkaline Trio / Hot Water Music split EP in 2002. In 2019, Alternative Press included the album on the list of 12 essential punk and emo albums of 1999, describing it as "a gut-wrenching roller coaster of love, hate and grief, all captured in an aggressive 30 minutes." [18] DecoyMusic.com described No Division as "one of blueprints for modern punk rock" and the band's best work. [14]
In 2019, the band played the album in full on tour, based on a Twitter poll conducted amongst fans. [19] Also in 2019, brewing company Arizona Wilderness created an IPA named after the album in collaboration with the band. [20]

Vagrant Records is an American record label based in California. It was founded in 1995 by Rich Egan and Jon Cohen. The label focuses on rock, but features artists in a variety of other genres including folk, soul, electronic, and pop. It is home to artists such as The 1975, Death Spells, Eels, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, CRUISR, Active Child, PJ Harvey, School of Seven Bells, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, James Vincent McMorrow, Black Joe Lewis, Wake Owl, Blitzen Trapper, and Bombay Bicycle Club. Originally, Vagrant Records was mostly focused on emo bands such as Dashboard Confessional, Saves the Day, The Get Up Kids, Senses Fail, and Alkaline Trio. The label is considered one of the pre-eminent labels of the emo music scene.
From Here to Infirmary is the third studio album by American punk rock band Alkaline Trio. It was their first album for Vagrant and their only album with Mike Felumlee, who replaced their previous drummer, Glenn Porter. When Felumlee left the band shortly after the album's release, Atom Willard filled in on tour and appeared in the music video for "Private Eye", before Derek Grant became their new permanent drummer.
Hot Water Music is an American punk rock band formed in October 1994 and based in Gainesville, Florida. Since their formation, the group has consisted of Chuck Ragan and Chris Wollard on shared lead vocals and guitars, bass guitarist Jason Black, and drummer George Rebelo. Since 2017, the band has also included guitarist-vocalist Chris Cresswell. The band initially broke up in August 1998, but reformed by October 1998. The group split up again in 2006, but has remained active since 2008.
Fuel for the Hate Game is the first full-length album by Hot Water Music. Fuel... was released by Toybox Records and No Idea Records in 1997, later repressings only listed No Idea. The album features artwork by Scott Sinclair and was designed by Sean Bonner.

Working with several different labels, they released three studio albums and four EPs before breaking up in 2008. While rooted in the post-hardcore and emo scenes of the turn of the century, Planes Mistaken for Stars developed a distinctive musical style strongly influenced by heavy metal and rock and roll. Reuniting for live performances in 2010, they went on to release their fourth album Prey in 2016.

Wood/Water is the fourth and final studio album by American rock band the Promise Ring. It was released by Anti- on April 23, 2002. While touring in support of their third studio album, Very Emergency (1999), the Promise Ring were due to leave for a European tour; frontman Davey von Bohlen was diagnosed with meningioma on the day of departure. As a result of a post-surgical infection, the band could not tour for the remainder of 2000. In early 2001, the Promise Ring made demos with Kristian Riley, and then recorded a track with producer Mario Caldato Jr. in Los Angeles, California. The Promise Ring flew to the UK for six weeks of recording with Stephen Street, before returning to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for further recording. The album moved away from the emo sound of the band's past works into alternative country, indie rock, and pop territory.
Chris Wollard is an American singer and musician. He is best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the post-hardcore band Hot Water Music, which he co-founded with co-vocalist and co-guitarist Chuck Ragan, drummer George Rebelo and bass guitarist Jason Black in October 1994. He is also the lead vocalist and guitarist in the punk rock band The Draft, and the acoustic guitarist of the acoustic-folk band Rumbleseat.

Do You Know Who You Are? is the first and only studio album by American rock band Texas Is the Reason. After finalizing their line-up, they wrote and released their self-titled debut EP in late 1995. Following that, they began recording their debut album at Oz Studios in Baltimore, Maryland, co-producing it with Jawbox member J. Robbins. Preceded by an east coast tour with labelmates Gameface, Do You Know Who You Are? was released on April 30, 1996 through Revelation Records. It was promoted with a European tour with Samiam, two US tours, and a tour of Germany with Queerfish and Starmarket. Shortly after the Germany stint, the group broke up.
Charles Allen Ragan is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is the guitarist and vocalist of the band Hot Water Music. Ragan has also released a variety of solo material, including a series of 7-inches on No Idea Records, a live album and three studio albums on Side One Dummy Records.
Dave Hause is an American singer-songwriter. He currently performs both solo and with his band The Mermaid. His music draws from heartland rock, folk rock and punk rock. He has also played in multiple Philadelphia-area punk and hardcore bands, including The Loved Ones and The Falcon.

The Porch Days: 1998 to 2000 is a compilation album by American melodic hardcore band As Friends Rust. It was released on vinyl by German record label Demons Run Amok Entertainment on May 22, 2015. The release compiles a selection of As Friends Rust recordings that showcase the band's most recognizable line-up, which spanned from March 1998 to October 2000. The band then consisted of lead vocalist Damien Moyal, drummer Timothy Kirkpatrick, bass guitarist and backing vocalist Kaleb Stewart, and revolving guitarists Gordon Tarpley, Joseph Simmons, Peter Bartsocas and James Glayat.
