North Lake is a lake located by Atwell, New York and is the source of the Black River. North Lake is one of several lakes in Herkimer County that has a medium acid content, and is therefore not a big fish producer. The fish species present are tiger muskie, white sucker, perch, and bullhead. Boating is permitted, limited to a small gravel based boat launch in Atwell. [3]
The 11,490-acre North Lake Easement Tract (also known as the J.P. Lewis Tract), is located in the Town of Ohio in Herkimer County. It is currently owned by Heartwood Forestry Fund. The tract surrounds the northern portion of North Lake and is bounded by the Black River Wild Forest on the southwest and the West Canada Lakes Wilderness on the northeast. The tract has the same rolling topography and features characteristic of adjacent forest preserve lands. Besides the lake, the tract includes numerous creeks, brooks and ponds. 2,606-foot Canachagala Mountain and 2,391-foot Golden Stair Mountain are located in the northwestern portion of the tract. NOTE: The public is prohibited from trespassing on the private property exclusion areas around the 35 camps on the North Lake Easement Tract.
Lake Ozonia is a lake located by Lake Ozonia, New York, St. Lawrence county in the Adirondacks in upstate New York. The outlet of the lake is Lake Ozonia Outlet which flows into the St. Regis River.
Utowana Lake is a lake in the Eckford Chain, Adirondacks, NY. It is connected to Eagle Lake and Blue Mountain Lake to the East and the Marion River/Raquette Lake to the West. It was owned by adventure writer Ned Buntline in 1867 and by William West Durant in 1888 before being purchased by mining magnate Berthold Hochschild in 1904. A significant part of the North shore is still owned by the Hochschild family as part of the Eagle Nest camp; the rest is under conservation easements.
South Lake is a lake by Atwell, New York and is the source of the South Branch Black River. South Lake is one of several lakes in Herkimer County that has a high acid content and is therefore not a big fish producer. The fish species present are brook trout and land-locked salmon. Boating is permitted. A canoe, rowboat or motorboat is needed to access the lake at the designated boat launch. The lake is a designated trout lake so no ice fishing is allowed. NOTE: The public is prohibited from trespassing on the private property exclusion areas around the camps. Private residents must use one of two designated gates to access the camps.
Muskellunge Lake is located by Oxbow, New York. The outlet flows into the Indian River. Fish species present in the lake are largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch, northern pike, and black crappie. There is a state owned carry down on New Connecticut Road. There is also an access at the northeast shore campground.

Rainbow Falls Reservoir is a man-made lake located east of South Colton, New York, as part of the Raquette River. It is within the town of Parishville, New York, though the hamlet of South Colton is the closest community accessible by car via Raquette River Road. Fish species present in the reservoir are smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, black bullhead, rock bass, and walleye. There is a boat launch located on Raquette River Road.

Moss Lake also known as Whipple Lake is located northwest of Eagle Bay, New York. The outlet flows into North Branch Moose River. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout, lake trout, atlantic salmon, brown trout, yellow perch, and black bullhead. There is trail access located off Big Moose Lake Road. There is no ice fishing allowed on Moss Lake.
Kayuta Lake is located northwest of Bardwell Mill, New York. Kayuta Lake Campground is located by the Black River inlet. Fish species present in the lake are smallmouth bass, pickerel, white sucker, rock bass, yellow perch, bluegill, and black bullhead. There is a carry down access on the north shore located on State Dam Road.
Clear Lake is a lake located by Plessis, New York. Fish species present in the lake are largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, yellow perch, black bullhead, bluegill, and black crappie. There is a boat launch on the west shore on Clear Lake Road.
Long Pond is located by Oswegatchie Camp, New York. Fish species present in the lake are splake, white sucker, and black bullhead. There is a state owned beach launch on Prentice Road, 4 miles northwest of Croghan. There is a 10 horsepower motor limit.
Church Pond is a small lake located south of Stark. Church Pond is the source of the North Branch Grass River. Fish species present in the lake are brook trout and black bullhead. There are 350 to 400 brook trout stocked per year. Access via state trail off state route 56 on the north shore.
Nelson Lake is located south of Minnehaha, New York. The outlet creek flows into Middle Branch Moose River. Fish species present in the lake are white sucker, black bullhead, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, yellow perch, and sunfish. Access via trail off unimproved road from Route 28 on the east shore and via the Middle Branch Moose River.
Little Salmon Lake is located southeast of Atwell, New York. Fish species present in the lake are sunfish, and brook trout. There is a four wheel drive trail off Haskell Road.
Horn Lake is a lake located north of Forest Lodge, New York. The outlet creek flows into the Indian River. Fish species present in the lake are pumpkinseed sunfish, and brook trout. There is carry down on the northwest shore via trail. No motors are allowed on Horn Lake.
