The Mentawai Islands Regency is a regency of West Sumatra Province which consists of a chain of about a hundred islands and islets approximately 150 kilometres off the western coast of Sumatra in Indonesia. They cover a land area of 5,980.76 km2 and had a population of 76,173 at the 2010 Census and 87,623 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 91,427 - comprising 47,321 males and 44,106 females. Siberut at 3,877.9 square kilometres is the largest of the islands, occupying 64.64% of the land area of the regency. The other major islands are Sipura, North Pagai, and South Pagai. The islands lie off the Sumatran coast, across the Mentawai Strait. The indigenous inhabitants of the islands are known as the Mentawai people. The Mentawai Islands have become a noted destination for surfing, with over 40 boats offering surf charters to international guests.
The Lingga Regency is a group of islands in Indonesia, located south of Singapore, along both sides of the equator, off the eastern coast of Riau Province on Sumatra island. They are south of the populated Riau Archipelago, known for the industrial island of Batam and the tourist-frequented island of Bintan, although the Lingga Islands themselves are rarely visited due to the infrequent local transportation. The equator goes through the northern tip of Lingga Island, the main island in the archipelago.
Bengkalis Regency is a regency of Indonesia in Riau Province. The regency was originally established in 1956 and then included most of the northern part of the province, but on 4 October 1999 it was divided up, with most of the territory being split off to form the new Rokan Hilir Regency, Siak Regency and the city of Dumai. On 19 December 2008 a further five districts were removed to create the new Meranti Islands Regency, leaving eight districts in the Bengkalis Regency. These eight districts has increased since 2010 to eleven by the splitting of existing districts on the Sumatran mainland.
Sipora located off Sumatra in the West Sumatra Province of Indonesia, is the second-smallest and most developed of the four Mentawai Islands at only 620.73 km2. It had a population of 17,557 at the 2010 Census and 21,901 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 23,228. The regency capital of the Mentawai Islands, Tuapejat, is found on Sipora. An estimated 10-15% of the original rainforest remains on this island.
Nunukan Regency is a regency of North Kalimantan Province in Indonesia. It was created on 4 October 1999 from the northern districts of Bulungan Regency. Nunukan Regency shares international borders with the Malaysian states of Sabah to the north and Sarawak to the west, and inter-regency borders with Tana Tidung Regency and Malinau Regency to the south, as well as the coastal city of Tarakan in the east. The regency covers an area of 14,247.50 km2 and it had a population of 140,841 at the 2010 census and 199,090 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 217,923.
Bangkalan Regency is a regency of East Java province in Indonesia. The seat of its government is the town of Bangkalan. The regency is located on the west side of Madura Island, bordering Sampang Regency to the east, Java Sea to the north, and Madura Strait to the west and the south sides. It covers an area of 1,260.15 km2, and had a population of 906,761 at the 2010 census and reached 1,060,377 at the 2020 census; however the official estimate as at mid-2023 showed a decline to 1,047,306 – comprising 515,428 males and 531,878 females.
Bogor Regency is a landlocked regency (kabupaten) of West Java province in Indonesia, situated south of DKI Jakarta. Covering an area of 2,734.33 km2, it is considered a bedroom community for Jakarta, and was home to 5,427,068 people at the 2020 census. The official estimate as at mid 2023 was 5,520,836. The town of Cibinong serves as the regency seat.
Gianyar is a regency (kabupaten) in the Indonesian province and island of Bali, Indonesia. It has an area of 368.0 km2 and had a population of 469,777 at the 2010 Census, and 515,344 at the 2020 Census, making it the second most densely populated district in Bali ; the official estimate as of mid-2022 was 523,973 - comprising 262,708 males and 261,264 females. Its regency seat is the town of Gianyar. The civil registry survey of April 2011 listed 480,447 people, of which 469,929 were classified as Hindu.
Siak, is a regency (kabupaten) of Riau Province, on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 8,556.09 km2 and had a population of 376,742 at the 2010 Census and 457,940 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 480,169, comprising 246,489 males and 233,680 females. The administrative centre of the regency is located at Siak Sri Indrapura in Mempura District. The northern part of this regency contains a large part of the Bukit Batu Biosphere Reserve.
Bintan Regency is an administrative area in the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia. Bintan Regency includes all of Bintan Island and also includes many outlying islands including the Tambelan Archipelago and Badas Islands situated between Bintan and West Kalimantan; altogether there are 273 islands comprising the regency.
Sorong Regency is a regency of the Southwest Papua province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 13,075.28 km2, and had a population of 70,619 at the 2010 Census, and 118,679 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 129,963. Its administrative centre is the town of Aimas. Sorong Regency surrounds Sorong City (Kota) on the landward side; the city is administratively independent of the Regency and is not included in the above statistics; Sorong City has an airport, Sorong Airport, which also serves the Regency.
Alor Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province of Indonesia. Established in 1958, Alor Regency administers the Alor Archipelago with its seat (capital) in Kalabahi on Alor Island.
Labuhanbatu Regency, alternatively written in space as Labuhan Batu Regency, is a regency of North Sumatra Province in Indonesia. Its administrative seat is Rantau Prapat. An original regency of the province, it had an area of 9,703 km2 as at early 2008, prior to the separation out of its southern and its north-western districts respectively to create the new South Labuhanbatu and North Labuhanbatu Regencies on 21 July 2008.
Toba Regency is a landlocked regency in North Sumatra. Its seat is Balige. The regency covers an area of 2,021.8 square kilometres; it had a population of 173,129 at the 2010 census and 206,199 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 213,850. Although landlocked, the regency includes the eastern shore of the vast inland Lake Toba.
East Flores Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Established in 1958, the regency has its seat (capital) in Larantuka on Flores Island. It covers a land area of 1,812.58 km2, and it had a population of 232,605 as of the 2010 census and 276,896 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as of mid-2023 was 288,310 - comprising 141,738 males and 146,572 females. The regency encompasses the eastern tip of the island of Flores, together with all of the adjacent islands of Adonara and Solor to the east of Flores, with some much smaller offshore islands. On 4 October 1999, the island of Lembata at the eastern end of the Solor Archipelago was separated from the East Flores Regency to create its own Regency.
Rote Ndao Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia, consisting primarily of the island of Rote, situated south-west of the western tip of West Timor with an area of 978.54 km2, together with minor offshore islands including Usu, Ndana, Ndao, Landu and Nuse; the total area including the minor offshore islands is 1,280.10 km2. The regency seat is in the village of Ba'a, which is situated in Lobalain District. The population of the Regency was 119,908 as of the 2010 census and 143,764 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 150,521.
Sitaro Islands Regency is a regency located off the northern extremity of Sulawesi Island in the southern Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The regency was formed under Law Number 15 Year 2007 from 2 January 2007, by separation from the Sangihe Islands Regency of which it had previously formed the southern part. The short form of the name is formed from one syllable from each of the names of the three principal islands — Siau, Tagulandang and Biaro.
North Toraja is a landlocked regency (kabupaten) of South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, and the home of the Toraja ethnic group. The local government seat is in Rantepao which is also the center of Toraja culture. Formerly this regency was the northern part of Tana Toraja Regency, but on 24 June 2008 the northeastern 36% of the latter's area was split off to form this separate North Toraja Regency. It covers an area of 1,289.13 km2 and had a population of 216,762 at the 2010 census and 261,086 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 261,652, comprising 133,529 males and 128,123 females.
Tuapeijat is a town within North Sipora District in the Mentawai Islands Regency of West Sumatra province of Indonesia and it is the administrative seat (capital) of Mentawai Islands Regency. The population was 4,344 at the 2010 Census, and the 2015 estimate gave the population as 5,756. The town's jurisdiction includes three small islands of Siburu, Silabok and Pototoga in addition to the main town areas on Sipora Island.
The Thousand Islands are a chain of islands to the north of Jakarta's coast. It forms the only regency of Special Capital Region of Jakarta, the metropolitan province of Indonesia. It consists of a string of 342 islands stretching 45 km (28 mi) north into the Java Sea at West Jakarta Bay and in fact are located to the north of Banten Province. Pramuka Island is the regency seat. The islands, along with North Jakarta City, are the only administrative divisions of Jakarta Special Capital Region with a coastline.
