The 33rd Norwegian Biathlon Championships were held in Steinkjer, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway from 10 January to 13 January 1991 at the stadium Steinkjer skistadion, arranged by Steinkjer SK. [1] There were 6 scheduled competitions: individual, sprint, and relay races for men and women. The team races for men and women were held on 24 March, concurrently with the final races of the Norwegian Biathlon Cup (Norgescupen), [2] in Orkdal, at the stadium Knyken Skisenter, arranged by Orkdal IL.
The Norwegian Biathlon Championships is the national biathlon championships of Norway and have been held every year since 1959.
Steinkjer is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Innherad region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Steinkjer which is located on the inner part of the Trondheimsfjord. The town is also the administrative centre for Trøndelag county. Other populated areas in Steinkjer include the villages of Ogndal, Hyllbrua, Gaulstad, Beitstad, Bartnes, Vellamelen, Stod, Binde, Sunnan, Byafossen, Følling, Kvam, Lerkehaug, Mære, Sparbu, Vassaunet, and Vekre.
Nord-Trøndelag was a county constituting the northern part of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. The county was established in 1804 when the old Trondhjems amt was divided into two: Nordre Trondhjems amt and Søndre Trondhjems amt. In 2016, the two county councils voted to merge (back) into a single county on 1 January 2018.
In the men's relay, Rolf Storsveen came out of retirement to race for the team from Hedmark, winning bronze. [3]
Rolf Storsveen is a former Norwegian biathlete. At the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo, he won a silver medal with the Norwegian relay team consisting of Kjell Søbak, Odd Lirhus, and Eirik Kvalfoss. He also came in sixth place in the 20 km individual. He also won silver in the relay in the World Championships in 1982 in Minsk.

Halvard Hanevold is a former Norwegian biathlete.
Odd Lirhus is a former Norwegian biathlete. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo he won a silver medal in the relay. He also won a gold medal in the 20 km individual at the 1978 Biathlon World Championship. In addition, he won the 20 km individual in Falun in the 1983–84 season. After that season, Lirhus took a gap year as an active biathlete to be a coach for the Canadian biathlon team, intending to return to biathlon and compete at the World Championships in Holmenkollen. He did not, however, return.
The 27th Biathlon World Championships held in 1992 in Novosibirsk, Russia were only for the team events because these were not part of the Olympic programme in Albertville.
