History

The club competed in the Second Division and was competed as Tribo do Sol in 2008, later the club withdrew and merged into what would become Nova Era which means the new era, a new era of the club after a merger of two or three clubs.

Their first years were spent in the regional Second Division until they won their first silver championship title in 2012 and played their first season in the Premier Division. At the end of the season, they were relegated after finishing last.

For a few seasons, the club continued to compete in the Second Division. In the 2016-17 season, the club was one of the most successful to return to the Premier Division, they played in Group A and was a 2nd placed club of the group, on February 11, Nova Era defeated Brasilim 0-20 [2] and it became the highest scoring match of any Second Division competitions in Cape Verde and any tiers, not just Fogo, but all of the country, it was the next 20 goal result in several seasons, it made Nova Era placed first for the rest of the first phase. Along with União de São Lourenço, they qualified into the final phase, Nova Era started first, on a match with Grito Povo on April 9, the original result was 3-1 as Grito Povo fielded an ineligible player, the association awarded Nova Era 3-0 and at the end of the final phase finished first with all of its 6 matches won totalling 18 points, a few rounds before the end of the season, the club got their Second Division championship, later the final match of the season was against União who failed to qualify for returning to the Premier Division, Nova Era was awarded 3-0 as that club did not appear.

Nova Era returned to compete for the second time at the Premier Division for the 2017-18 season after 7 years in the lowest division. [2] A low to mid success was made at the start of the season. At the second round, Nova Era underwent a two match winning streak defeating the division's weakest clubs of ABC Patim and Atlético Mosteiros in the first two rounds. At the third round, Nova Era made a goal draw with Spartak d'Aguadinha and was placed third, two behind Vulcânicos and ahead of Valéncia, another win at the fourth round got their never-reached 2nd place behind Vulcânicos and ahead of Spartak, also two ahead of Fogo's other popular clubs of Académica do Fogo and Botafogo FC. At the fifth round, Nova Era suffered another Premier Division loss as they lost to the island's top three Botafogo 3-0, as they scored less than Spartak but conceded less, Nova Era remained second place. Their positions recently dropped to sixth at the 8th round and had the fewest goals scored with five alongside ABC Patim, their last goal scored was a 1-0 win over Cutelinho. They had scored nothing for the past five weeks, especially in their last two matches which were two scoreless draws. ABC Patim's next goal scored made Nova Era the fewest scored goals in the Premier Division. Nova Era finally scored two more goals and made a win on January 14 and defeated ABC de Patim and risked that club for relegation. Nova Era now totaled a three match winning streak including one over the more powerful Spartak on January 27 with the score 3-1 and took the fourth place from Spartak and was fourth with 21 points, behind Fogo's top three clubs. Nova Era made two further wins including Cutelinho and unexpectedly Botafogo. Nova Era made a match with Académica which ended in a 3-1 loss and their end to a five match winning streak. Nova Era remained fourth with 27 points and 17 goals scored, shared with Atlético as the sixth most or the fifth lowest. Nonetheless, Nova Era will be participant in the same division next season. Nova Era is still fourth with 30 points, they recently defeated Nô Pintcha. Nova Era (the New Era) never saw a moderate success at the Premier Division before. The 17th round challenge was with Valěncia and ended in a loss.
