Valência Futebol Clube or Valência Futebol Clube do Fogo is a football (soccer) club that currently plays in the Fogo Island League currently in the Second Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the village of As Hortas in the west of the island northeast of the island capital São Filipe.

São Filipe is a city on the west coast of the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. It is the capital of the island, and the seat of the São Filipe Municipality. The island's airport, São Filipe Airport, is located on the southeastern edge of the town and the island's port is 4 km north of the center at Vale de Cavaleiros. The town's elevation is 20 meters.

The club has no relation to a Spanish club named Valencia CF (sometimes as Valencia FC but not often) based in the city of Valencia, not even its club name origin.

Valencia Club de Fútbol, commonly referred to as Valencia CF or simply Valencia, is a Spanish football club based in Valencia. They play in La Liga. Valencia have won six La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey titles, two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups, one UEFA Cup, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and two UEFA Super Cups. They also reached two UEFA Champions League finals in a row, losing to La Liga rivals Real Madrid in 2000 and German club Bayern Munich on penalties after a 1–1 draw in 2001. Valencia were also members of the G-14 group of leading European football clubs and since its end has been part of the original members of the European Club Association. In total, Valencia have reached seven major European finals, winning four of them.

Its logo has a spiked-pointed shield with a thick black rim and is colored blue, it has a blue circle with light blue rims and has the island of Fogo in it colored grey with a football (soccer ball) inside and is covered with Mount Fogo (consisting Monte Velha, Bordeira, Pico da Caldeira and Pico do Fogo), the tallest and largest mountain in the nation.

History

Valência was founded around the early to mid 2000s and became a registered club later and started playing in official competitions.

In the 2012, Fogo Cup, Valência led the competition and became the first club outside the capital São Filipe to claim a cup title for Fogo. Valência opened its doors for competition in the 4th and recent Cape Verdean Cup and being the recent club from Fogo to participate.

Recently the club has played in regional Premier Division competitions. The club finished 6th in 2014 and 2015, first with 30 points, 9 wins and 33 goals and second with fewer 24 points and 7 wins, but scored a few more numbering 37. Their position slowly rose and finished 4th with 37 points but scored fewer goals numbering 27. The club got their best position for the 2017 season finishing 3rd and had 10 wins and 2 draws out of 18 matches. also they scored a total of 37 goals, again in two years and finished with 32 points.

On October 28, Valência started the season in Mosteiros and faced with Atlético Mosteiros in their first Premier Division match, [1] it ended in a goal draw. Their positions were moderate and the club was fifth at the seventh round with three wins and draws with a total of 10 points and had 8 goals, equaling to 8 goals they conceded to other clubs. Their positions shifted with a 1-2 win over ailing ABC Patim and became fourth placed and has equal points with Spartak but one goal difference between scoring and those conceded. Valėncia made a draw without any goals scored with Atlético Mosteiros at the 10th round and lost a position to fifth place. A round later, they lost another position to Nova Era, the club lost to the top clubs of the island Bota Fogo, then Académcia and was sixth at the 12th round. After their cup break, it would be three more losses they suffered, their last was to Vulcânicos. Valência defeated Cutelinho 0-1 at the 16th round and pleasing to the club, finally escaped an attempt of being inside the relegation zone and remains a Premier Division club, the club had 18 points. Another win was made over Nova Erat round 17, one match is left and will be over the weakening ABC Patim.

València has its own football field, the club trains there. Its matches are played at Estádio 5 de Julho with a capacity of 1,000. The club also trains at the stadium. Other clubs playing at the stadium includes Académica do Fogo, Botafogo, Juventude, Vulcânicos and the least prominent club Atlântico. Clubs based in a city subdivision includes Spartak d'Aguadinha, Brasilim of Monte Vaca and Nova Era FC. Other clubs playing at the stadium but not based is União FC from São Lourenço
