Nuits Sonores is an electronic music festival based in Lyon, France. It usually occurs for five days in May. It has been held since 2003 and is organized by the Arty Fartyorganization. [1]

Contents

The festival is set within the city of Lyon itself, in public spaces, old industrial wastelands, small venues and sometimes in historical buildings.

Throughout the years, major electronic music artists came to Lyon to perform at the festival: Ben Klock, Ellen Allien, Pedro Winter, Kraftwerk, Goldie, The Blessed Madonna, Nina Kraviz, Four Tet, Floating Points, Laurent Garnier, Blawan, Jamie XX, Carl Craig, Chez Damier, The Chemical Brothers, Mala (Digital Mystikz), Kerri Chandler and more.

Skrillex, Autechre and Fatboy Slim (among others) are set to play for the 2024 festival. [2]

Pierre Henry, Derrick May, Laurie Anderson, Mathhew Herbert, Björk, Wolfgang Voigt, Otavio Henrique Soares Brandao, Ake Parmerud, Henri Pousseur, Can, Klaus Schulze, Lionel Marchetti in particular have already been awarded with a Qwartz d'Honneur.

The Great Concert of Cecil Taylor is a live album by Cecil Taylor recorded in St. Paul de Vence, Nice, on July 29, 1969, and released on the Prestige label in 1977 as a 3-LP set. Émilie is an opera – specifically a 9-scene, 75-minute monodrama for soprano – by Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho to a libretto by Amin Maalouf. It was written in 2008. Based on the life and writings of Marquise Émilie du Châtelet (1706–1749), the work premiered at the Opéra de Lyon, France, on 1 March 2010, with Finnish soprano Karita Mattila, its dedicatee, in the title role.
