The 1962 World Rowing Championships were the inaugural world championships in rowing. The competition was held in September 1962 on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. Rowers from West Germany dominated the competition, winning five of the seven boat classes.
Jargalsaikhany Chuluunbat is a Mongolian freestyle wrestler. He competed in the freestyle 120 kg event at the 2012 Summer Olympics; he defeated Malal Ndiaye in the 1/8 finals and was eliminated by Bilyal Makhov in the quarterfinals.

It would appear however that championships were contested between 1956 and 1963, as sources note that a team called Aldar, the Mongolian Army Sports Club, won the title on numerous occasions during that time. Nonetheless, the 1968 national championship was won by Darkhan, representing the city of Darkhan, the capital of Darkhan-Uul Aimag, their first title.

Nonetheless, the 1979 national championship was won by Tengeriin Bugnuud, a team from Bat-Ölzii, a sum (district) of Övörkhangai Province in southern Mongolia, their sixth title following their first victory in the 1967 championship.
The Refugee Olympic Team competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016, as independent Olympic participants. In March 2016, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach declared that the IOC would choose five to ten refugees to compete at the Rio Olympics, in the context of the "worldwide refugee crisis", of which the European migrant crisis is a prominent part. The athletes competed under the Olympic Flag. Initially, they were labeled "Team of Refugee Olympic Athletes", with the IOC country code ROA, but this was updated to Refugee Olympic Team with the country code ROT.
Nyamyn Narantuyaa is a Mongolian boxer. He competed in the men's flyweight event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. At the 1980 Summer Olympics, he lost to Armando Guevara of Venezuela.
