The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) is a government office of Fiji responsible for coordinating the work of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet under section 91 and 92 of the constitution of Fiji. [2]

The Office of the Prime Minister is to provide coherent policy advice to the Prime Minister and coordinate, facilitate, monitor and evaluate government programs. It is also in charge of other government ministries. [3]

History

In 1970, the Chief Minister's Office which was called at that time, served the newly independent Fiji with a handful of staff. The late Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara was the first Prime Minister to occupy the office along with his permanent secretary Robert Sanders. [4]

Responsibilities

The Office has jurisdiction over the Immigration Department responsible for the travel of Fijian citizens across the border. This includes the issuance of passports, entry and departure permits and processing of applications of citizenships. The Office also facilitate funding to outer islands for community projects and oversees the administration of Rotuma, Kioa and Rabi Island Councils. [2]

Cabinet of Nigeria Nigeria Federal Executive Council

The Cabinet of Nigeria is part of the Executive Branch of the Government of Nigeria. The Cabinet's role, as written in the Ministers' Statutory Powers and Duties Act is to serve as an advisory body to the President of Nigeria. Cabinet Secretary (United Kingdom) Head of the British Civil Service

Cabinet Office (Spain)

The Cabinet of the Prime Minister's Office, officially Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, is a political and technical assistance body at the service of the Prime Minister of Spain. The Cabinet of the Prime Minister is composed of multiple departments directly responsible to the Premier and coordinated by the Chief of Staff. The Cabinet Office, the officials that work on it, their offices and the departments make up the Office of the Prime Minister.
