According to the review aggregator Metacritic , Oh Me Oh My received "universal acclaim" based on a weighted average score of 81 out of 100 from six critic scores. [5] Editors at AllMusic rated the album 3.5 out of 5 stars, with critic Paul Simpson writing that it has producer Jacknife Lee "honing Holley's freewheeling narratives and recollections into concise yet atmospheric songs". [2] Andrew Perry of Mojo rated the album 4 out of 5 stars, characterizing it as "another electrifying blast of political exorcism and spiritual redemption from the American South's septuagenarian survivor hero" and "another uniquely memorable record, encapsulating its creator's restless spirit". [3] In Paste , it was chosen as one of the 10 best albums of March 2023, with Josh Jackson praising the collaborations on the recording. [6] Editors at Pitchfork called the album Best New Music of the week of March 15, 2023, with critic Zach Schonfeld scoring it 8.5 for its "tightly structured" songwriting, where "musical backdrops take on a cinematic life of their own". Lonnie Bradley Holley, sometimes known as the Sand Man, is an American artist, art educator, and musician. He is best known for his assemblages and immersive environments made of found materials. In 1981, after he brought a few of his sandstone carvings to then-Birmingham Museum of Art director Richard Murray, the latter helped to promote his work. In addition to solo exhibitions at the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston, Holley has exhibited in group exhibitions with other Black artists from the American South at the Michael C. Carlos Museum and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Toledo Museum of Art, Pérez Art Museum Miami, NSU Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, de Young Museum in San Francisco, National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, England, and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, among other places.
