The Ohtli Award or Reconocimiento Ohtli [1] is granted by the Institute of Mexicans Living Abroad (IME, by its acronym in Spanish) from the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and its focused to strengthen relations with the Mexican community that resides outside our country. [2] [3]

The Ohtli award is administered by the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs. [4] It is given once annually by the embassies and consists of a medallion, silver rosette and a diploma. [5] The name of the award comes from the Nahuatl word which means "road" or "path." [6] [7] The medal depicts an Aztec god cutting grass with a machete. [8] The symbolism of the name alludes to the idea of opening a path for others. [9] The first award was given out in 1996. [6] The award is one of the highest honors given to citizens living outside of Mexico. Carlos Chanfón Olmos was a Mexican architect and professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), known for his research and publications of various topics in the field of architecture under the UNAM imprint. He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Colima in 2001.

El hotel de los secretos is a Mexican telenovela produced by Roberto Gómez Fernández for Televisa. It is an adaptation of the Spanish series Gran Hotel created by Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira and Carlos Sedes.

César Emiliano Hernández Ochoa is a Mexican public official, lawyer and academic from Durango, Mexico. Hernández has a long trajectory inside the Mexican government, having worked in every Mexican federal administration since Ernesto Zedillo and received presidential appointments both from Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Enrique Peña Nieto. From December 1, 2018, until May 15, 2020, he served as National Commissioner at the Commission for Better Regulation. From February 5, 2014, until November 21, 2017, he served as Deputy Secretary of Energy for Electricity at Mexico's Department of Energy.

Maria Teresa Alonso-Rasgado is a professor of mechanical engineering and dean for global engagement in the faculty of science and engineering at Queen Mary University of London. She was awarded the Ohtli Award in 2016, the most significant honour of the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs. In 2019 she was awarded the Lázaro Cárdenas medal for academic excellence.

Esperanza Zambrano was a Mexican poet. She was affiliated with several organizations including the Pan American Union, publications of the Inter-American Commission of Women of the Organization of American States, the Mexican Legion of Honor, as well as being the co-founder and president of the Ateneo Mexicano de Mujeres. Zambrano was the laureate of awards from Mexico, France, and the Dominican Republic.
