Neurosurgery or neurological surgery,known in common parlance as brain surgery,is the medical specialty that focuses on the surgical treatment or rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain,spinal cord,peripheral nervous system,and cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgery as a medical specialty also includes non-surgical management of some neurological conditions.

And again in 2023,it was announced by the JAMB Head,Professor Ishaq Oloyede to be the sought-after University,for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME),making it for the 10th consecutive year.
T. S. Kanaka or Thanjavur Santhanakrishna Kanaka,also known as Tanjore Santhana Krishna Kanaka,was Asia's first female neurosurgeon and one of the world's first few female neurosurgeons. She was the first neurosurgeon in India to perform chronic electrode implants in the brain,having been also the first to perform deep brain stimulation as early as in 1975. She pioneered functional neurosurgery in the 1960s and 1970s along with Prof. Balasubramaniam,Prof. S. Kalyanaraman;and received recognition for her research and contributions to the field of stereotactic surgery. She is also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of Madras Neuro Trust.
Wing Commander Mohammed Ndatsu Umaru was a Military Governor of Kwara State,Nigeria from August 1985 to December 1987,and then of Kano State from December 1987 to July 1988 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.
Mohammed Alabi Lawal;January 24,1946 –November 15,2006) was a Nigerian naval officer who was military governor of Ogun State between December 1987 and August 1990 during the military administration of General Ibrahim Babangida. He was one of the pioneers of the Nigeria Navy Secondary School Abeokuta.The then Navy Captain Mohammed Lawal,invited the Nigerian Navy to consider a location of the defunct St Leo's Teachers' Training College at Ibara Abeokuta (www.nnssab.net)on a hilly Onikolobo site. This premises had been abandoned and merely serve as a route to the Catholic Compound and was also used for administering a newly conceived secondary school in that name. The Nigerian Navy considered the site and found it suitable. After the return to democracy in 1999 he was elected governor of Kwara State,holding office from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2003.

With a specialty in pituitary medicine and surgery,currently,he is the chair of the department of Neurological Surgery and Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology) at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. he has been editor-in-chief of Neurosurgery,Operative Neurosurgery, and Neurosurgery Open. He was previously chair of the American Board of Neurological Surgery,among other organizations.

He is a member of the American Medical Association,the American Board of Pediatrics,and theAmerican College of Healthcare Executives. Aluya has written numerous articles,raised funds for international medical missions,and advocated for cultural events and pro- black political interests.
