Ollastra (Sardinian : Ollasta) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Oristano in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) northwest of Cagliari and about 14 kilometres (9 mi) northeast of Oristano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,257 and an area of 21.5 square kilometres (8.3 sq mi). [1]

From 1928 to 1946 the place was a frazione of nearby Simaxis and was therefore known as Ollastra Simaxis. It changed its name to simply Ollastra in 1991.

"Frazione" is the Italian name given in administrative law to a type of territorial subdivision of a comune; for other administrative divisions, see municipio, circoscrizione, quartiere. It is cognate to the English word fraction, but in practice is roughly equivalent to "parishes" or "wards" in other countries.
