Law enforcement in the United Kingdom is organised separately in each of the legal systems of the United Kingdom:England and Wales,Scotland,and Northern Ireland. Most law enforcement duties are carried out by those who hold the office of police constable of a territorial police force.
A Police Community Support Officer,or as written in legislation Community Support Officer,is a uniformed member of police staff in England and Wales,a role created by Section 38(2) of the Police Reform Act 2002,which was given Royal Assent by Queen Elizabeth II on 24 July 2002. They are non-warranted but provided with a variety of police powers and the power of a constable in various instances by the forty-three territorial police forces in England and Wales and the British Transport Police.
Bedfordshire Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the ceremonial county of Bedfordshire in England,which includes the unitary authorities of Bedford,Central Bedfordshire and Luton. Its headquarters are in the town of Kempston in Bedford Borough.

Devon and Cornwall Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the ceremonial counties of Devon and Cornwall in South West England. The force serves approximately 1.8 million people over an area of 3,967 square miles (10,270 km2).

The force serves a population of 908,000 in a mostly rural area of 2,079 square miles (5,380 km2),including 90 miles (140 km) of coastline and 16 rivers,including the Broads National Park. Headquartered in Wymondham,Norfolk is responsible for the City of Norwich,along with King's Lynn,Great Yarmouth and Thetford. As of September 2022,the force has a strength of 1,921 police constables,and as of March 2022,179 special constables,1,226 police staff/designated officers,and 100 police support volunteers. The chief constable is currently Paul Sanford,and the police and crime commissioner is Giles Orpen-Smellie (Conservative).
Leicestershire Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the counties of Leicestershire and Rutland in England. Its headquarters are at Enderby,Leicestershire.
Humberside Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing The East Riding of Yorkshire including Hull and northern parts of Lincolnshire including Grimsby and Scunthorpe.

As of September 2022,the force has a strength of approximately 1,387 police constables,and as of March 2022,111 special constables,880 police staff/designated officers,36 PCSO's and 133 police support volunteers. The Chief Constable is currently Rachel Kearton,and the Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore (Conservative).

The 2012 police and crime commissioner elections were polls held in most police areas in England and Wales on Thursday 15 November. The direct election of police and crime commissioners (PCCs) was originally scheduled for May 2012 but was postponed in order to secure the passage of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 through the House of Lords. The government considers the elected commissioners to have a stronger mandate than the "unelected and invisible police authorities that they replace". The elections took place alongside by-elections for the House of Commons in Cardiff South and Penarth,Corby and Manchester Central,and a mayoral election in Bristol.

This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 34.1% across the elections,with Wales having much higher turnout.
