One Tampa City Center, formerly known as GTE Center and Verizon Building, is an office skyscraper in Tampa, Florida. It was the tallest building in the state for three years and the tallest building in the city until the completion of the Bank of America tower in 1986. [3] At 39 stories, it is currently the third tallest structure in the city, standing 537 feet (164 m) tall. [4]
One Tampa City Center opened in 1981 as the GTE Building. It was the second skyscraper built in the city, after the Park Tower just a few blocks away.
On November 13, 2012, PNC Bank acquired the naming rights for the building from Verizon Communications, which began effective in May 2013. [5]
On October 30, 2014, the building was sold for $128 million to Alliance Partners HSP. [6] Alliance Partners subsequently split the ownership of the land and the building, selling the building in October 2018 for $110 million to Banyan Street Capital and Oaktree Capital Management. [7] HSBC provided an $84 million acquisition loan for the purchase.
The building is among Tampa's tallest buildings, as well as among Florida's tallest.
When it topped out in 1981, One Tampa City Center was the tallest building in Florida for four years, from 1981 to 1984, when it was surpassed by the Wachovia Financial Center, which today is the Southeast Financial Center. The building was the tallest in Tampa from 1981 to 1986, until it was surpassed by neighboring office building the Bank of America Plaza. Today, the building remains the third tallest building in the city.

U.S. Bank Tower, known locally as the Library Tower and formerly as the First Interstate Bank World Center, is a 1,018-foot (310.3 m) skyscraper in downtown Los Angeles, California. It is, by structural height, the third-tallest building in California, the second-tallest building in Los Angeles, the 24th-tallest in the United States, the third-tallest west of the Mississippi River after the Salesforce Tower and the Wilshire Grand Center, and the 129th-tallest building in the world, after being surpassed by the Wilshire Grand Center. However, the U.S. Bank Tower does surpass both the Salesforce Tower and the Wilshire Grand Center in roof height, making it the only building in California whose roof height exceeds 1,000 feet (300 m). Because local building codes required all high-rise buildings to have a helipad, it was known as the tallest building in the world with a rooftop heliport from its completion in 1989 to 2010 when the China World Trade Center Tower III opened. It is also the third-tallest building in a major active seismic region; its structure was designed to resist an earthquake of 8.3 on the Richter scale. It consists of 73 stories above ground and two parking levels below ground. Construction began in 1987 with completion in 1989. The building was designed by Henry N. Cobb of the architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and cost $350 million to build. It is one of the most recognizable buildings in Los Angeles, and often appears in establishing shots for the city in films and television programs.
The Four Seasons Hotel and Tower, also known as the Four Seasons Hotel Miami, is a 70-story, 781 feet (238 m) skyscraper in Miami, Florida. Located in downtown Miami's Brickell Financial District, it is the third tallest building in Miami as well as in Florida. The tower contains a Four Seasons Hotel property, office space and several residential condominium units on the upper floors.
Southeast Financial Center is a two-acre development in Miami, Florida, United States. It consists of a 765 feet (233 m) tall office skyscraper and its 15-story parking garage. It was previously known as the Southeast Financial Center (1984–1992), the First Union Financial Center (1992–2003) and the Wachovia Financial Center (2003–2011). In 2011, it retook its old name of Southeast Financial Center as Wachovia merged with Wells Fargo and moved to the nearby Wells Fargo Center.
PNC Center is a skyscraper located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio at the northwest corner of Euclid Avenue and East 9th Street. The building has 35 stories and rises to a height of 410 feet (120 m), and was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Construction on the building was finished in 1980. It served as the headquarters for the now defunct National City Corporation, and is now the Cleveland–area offices for PNC Financial Services.
The 4th & Vine Tower is a 151 m (495 ft) skyscraper in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. It stands 31 stories tall, overlooking the Ohio River waterfront. It is easily one of the most recognizable buildings in the city's skyline, owing to the elaborate Hellenic architecture in the upper portion of the tower, which was modeled to resemble reconstructions of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Few PNC Bank employees now work in the 4th & Vine Tower today, as most report to the newer PNC Center. PNC Bank has the signage rights to the building, but PNC Tower is not the official name. It is officially the 4th & Vine Tower. The signage on the building was "Central Trust" until sometime after the Scripps Building was completed in 1990.
Park Tower is a skyscraper located in downtown Tampa, Florida. It is Tampa's first high-rise tower. At the time of its completion in November 1973, it was the tallest in Florida, and is currently sixth-tallest in Tampa, at 460 feet (140 m). It was the tallest building in Tampa until One Tampa City Center was built in 1981.
Priatek Plaza, formerly known as One Progress Plaza and the Bank of America Tower, is a 28-story skyscraper designed by Jung Brannen Associates located at 200 Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. It was completed in 1990, and at 117.65 m (386.0 ft), it is one of the tallest buildings in the city, and has the largest tenant occupancy in a commercial office building on the entire South West coast of Florida.
500 West Jefferson, previously known as PNC Plaza for several decades until renamed in 2020, and now also called 500W or 500 West by its owners, is a skyscraper in Downtown, Louisville, Kentucky and located at 500 West Jefferson Street. Previously owned by Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank and currently owned by SomeraRoad Inc, the 31-story, 420-foot (128 m) high structure was designed by architect Welton Becket and was completed in 1971. A notable feature of the building is the pattern of pre-cast concrete panels on the exterior of its windows. The building, originally named Citizens Fidelity Plaza, was named after Citizens Fidelity Bank and renamed PNC Plaza when Citizens Fidelity was acquired by PNC Bank.

The Bank of America Plaza is a 42-story skyscraper located in Downtown Tampa, in the U.S. state of Florida, and was completed in 1986. At 175.87 m (577.0 ft), it surpassed One Tampa City Center as the tallest building in Tampa, until completion of 100 North Tampa in 1992. The structure was originally known as Barnett Plaza. The structure contains around 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) of rentable space per typical floor with a total of 783,930 square feet (72,829 m2) of rentable space.
1 Independent Square is a skyscraper in the downtown area of Jacksonville, Florida, located northwest of the Main Street Bridge and north of St. Johns River, at the southeast corner of Bay and Laura streets. Standing 535 feet tall, it is the city's second-tallest building. It was formerly known as the Modis Building until 2011, when Wells Fargo acquired the naming rights. From 2011 to 2024, it was known as the Wells Fargo Center. In July 2024, the building was renamed to 1 Independent Square after Wells Fargo did not renew its naming rights.
Three PNC Plaza is a 361 ft (110 m) tall skyscraper in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was announced on December 19, 2005 and completed in 2009 with 23 floors. It was the tallest building constructed in the city since Highmark Tower was completed in 1988, until The Tower at PNC Plaza was completed in 2015. It contains 326,000 square feet (30,300 m2) of office space, a 185-room Fairmont Hotel, and 28 condominium units. The $179 million project created 800 construction-related jobs with a $35 million payroll. Thirteen buildings were demolished to make way for the building.
Eight Forty One is a 309 feet, 22-floor office building on the south bank of St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. Completed in 1955, it was the tallest building in the city for 13 years until surpassed by the Riverplace Tower. It was "The Tallest Office Building in the South" and the tallest in Florida until NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building was completed in 1965. The building's former names include the Aetna Building, Prudential Plaza I or One Prudential Plaza, and the Prudential Building.
100 North Tampa, formerly known as the Regions Building and the AmSouth Building, is a skyscraper in Tampa, Florida, USA. Rising to a height of 579 feet (176 m) and 42 floors in Downtown Tampa, the structure currently stands as the tallest building in Tampa and the twenty-sixth-tallest building in Florida. 100 North Tampa was designed by the HKS, Inc. architectural firm, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The building, an example of postmodern architecture, holds offices for Regions Bank, the American International Group, Yara, North America, KPMG, and law firms Holland & Knight and Turkel, Cuva, & Barrios.
The Rivergate Tower, also known as the Sykes building or the Beer Can Building, is a 454-foot-tall (138 m) skyscraper in Tampa, Florida. The skyscraper is the seventh tallest building in Tampa with 31 floors. Rivergate Tower's principal tenant is Sykes Enterprises, a publicly-traded company that operates technical help and customer support centers internationally.
The Hyatt Regency Indianapolis is part of PNC Center, a mixed-use high-rise complex in Indianapolis, Indiana. The complex rises 22 floors and 268 feet (82 m) in height, and is currently the 17th-tallest building in the city.
The PNC Bank Building is a 368 ft (112 m) tall skyscraper located at 405 Madison Avenue in Downtown Toledo, Ohio. The limestone-faced steel-frame building was constructed in 1930 and is an example of the Art Deco style of architecture. It stood as Toledo's tallest building for 39 years, from its completion in 1930 until the completion of the Tower on the Maumee in 1969. The PNC Bank Building is currently the third-tallest building in Toledo.
