Onoriode Ebiere Ariyo professionally known as Onos Ariyo is a Nigerian-based singer and songwriter. She is best known for her critically acclaimed song "Alagbara" which was written & produced by Nigerian Music Producer Wilson Joel . [1] In September 2018, she was listed in the Global Top 100 Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD). [2]

Early life

Onos was born in Delta State in Southern Nigeria where she had her primary and secondary school education after which she gained admission to the Delta State University, Abraka where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in French. [3] Onos had begun singing while she was in primary school, [3] being a part of a number of different choirs and groups [4] before she moved to Lagos in 2004 where she began recording her first official single, "Dance" produced by FLO. [5]

Career

Sequel to the successful release of her debut single "Dance", Onos has gone on to headline several gospel concerts in Nigeria, including The Experience - Lagos, which has been described as the biggest gospel concert in the world, [6] where she has shared the stage with a number of notable international gospel artistes, including Travis Greene, Kirk Franklin and Donnie McClurkin. [7]
In 2010, Onos released her debut album Keep Moving, which featured the songs Dance and Na Your Love as well as Jamaican International gospel singer, Chevelle Franklyn, her big break, however, came with the release of her 2014 album No Limits, which featured the break out hits Alagbara and Everything Has Changed. [8] The success of the album, as well as the single Alagbara, led to her nomination for several awards in the Gospel category.
In 2015, she became the Nigerian coordinator for the Women of African Origin in Music Ministry (WAOMM), under which platform she mentors and nurtures up-coming female gospel artistes. [8] In 2012, Onos convened the For the Love of the Season, a music and style scene show that brings together the fashion and music industry. [3] In 2018, she began hosting a monthly live worship event titled B R E A T H E.
In 2017 she released her third studio album, Songs from the Place of Prayer to rave reviews. [8]
On 28 July 2019, she released her fourth studio album, Breathe on music streaming service Boomplay. [9]

Awards and recognition

Onos has been nominated for a number of awards since her debut into the music industry. In 2012 she won the award for the Best Female Vocalist at the Nigeria Gospel Music Awards as well as at the Crystal Awards in 2013. In 2015, she won the Wise Women Awards in the Woman in Music category and Female Gospel Artist Of The Year Eloy Awards in the same year. [10] She won the Female Artist of Excellence Award at the African Gospel Music Awards AGMMA in the UK in 2018.

In August 2018, Onos was hosted, alongside other MIPAD honorees by the Nigerian stock exchange at the Gong closing ceremony tagged "Celebration of Excellence". The event also had in attendance former Vice President of Nigeria, Namadi Sambo. [11]

Seyi Shay Nigerian singer-songwriter and actress

Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, professionally known as Seyi Shay, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. She wrote and produced three songs for the soundtrack to Konami's video game Crime Life: Gang Wars (2005). She also wrote "You Will See", a song that was included on Melanie C's third studio album Beautiful Intentions (2005). Shay wrote "White Lies", a song from Chip's Transition album. In 2008, she became the lead singer for the now defunct pop girl group From Above. Simisola Kosoko, better known by her stage name Simi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress. She started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2008, titled Ogaju. She gained prominence in 2014 after releasing "Tiff", a song that was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015. Simi signed a record deal with X3M Music in 2014, but left the label in May 2019 following the expiration of her contract. She released her second studio album Simisola on September 8, 2017. Her third studio album Omo Charlie Champagne, Vol. 1 was released to coincide with her thirty-first birthday on April 19, 2019. She launched her record label Studio Brat in June 2019.

Ayoola Oladapo Agboola also known as KDDO or Kiddominant is a Nigerian recording producer, songwriter, and artist. He's best known for producing Afrobeats longest charting billboard single "Fall" by Davido, which peaked on US R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart at number 13 and US Hot R&B Songs chart at number 25 on Billboard. According to OkayAfrica, Fall is Nigeria's longest-charted pop song in Billboard history and Pitchfork named it among the best 200 song of the decade. In 2017, he was part of Pulse Nigeria's top 10 record producers to focus on. In 2020, Kiddominant became the first Afrobeats producer in history to be certified by the recording industry association of America, after fall became a certified gold record in the US. The Experience is an annual, free gospel music concert held at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos Island, Nigeria. Begun and hosted by House on the Rock lead pastor Paul Adefarasin in 2006, the first concert had an attendance of 70,000 people.

Mayorkun Nigerian Musician

Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and pianist. He released a cover of Davido's "The Money" single and was discovered by the singer on Twitter. Mayorkun signed with Davido's record label Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016; his debut single "Eleko" was released under the label. Mayorkun released his debut studio album The Mayor of Lagos in November 2018.

The Mayor of Lagos is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Mayorkun. It was released on November 16, 2018, through Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). The album's production was handled by Speroach Beatz, Cracker Mallo, Fresh VDM, Kiddominant, DJ Coublon, Phantom, Northboi, Killertunes and Lussh. Mayorkun enlisted Davido, Sarkodie, D'banj, Patoranking and other label mates to appear as guest artists on the album. Preceding the album's release were five singles: "Mama", "Che Che", "Bobo", "Fantasy" and "Posh". The album won Best R&B/Pop Album at The Headies 2019.
