ELOY Awards (Exquisite Lady of the Year Awards) is an annual event held in Nigeria to recognize and celebrate outstanding women in various fields. Organized by Exquisite Magazine, the awards aim to highlight the achievements and contributions of women who are making significant impacts in their respective industries, including business, arts, fashion, media, and philanthropy. It was established by Tewa Onasanya in 2009. [1] [2]
During the ELOY awards held in Lagos Continental Hotel in 2018, the convener Tewa Onasanya disclosed that the nominees were selected from different walks of life and that there has to be a vote-count before anyone is duly awarded. [3]
In 2019, the ELOY awards introduced a new development, in which the awards for the very first time would be celebrating a man, the category will celebrate a man or male-owned company, which empowers and employs women, the CEO, Tewa Onasanya stated that there was a need to improve on the previous editions. Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi is a Nigerian former broadcaster at The Beat 99.9 FM, entrepreneur and co-host of "Off-Air with Gbemi & Toolz" podcast. Gbemi is the granddaughter of late Olowo of Owo Sir Olateru-Olagbegi II KBE. In 2008, Gbemi won the on-air personality of the year at the Future Awards Africa. In 2015, Gbemi founded Gbemisoke shoes. Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, lifestyle entrepreneur, actress and author. Makinwa is known for hosting The Late Morning Show on Rhythm 93.7 FM and for her YouTube vlog series Toke Moments. She released her book On Becoming in November 2016. She is one of the top five African female show hosts.
