France is divided into eighteen administrative regions, of which thirteen are located in metropolitan France, while the other five are overseas regions.

There are many administrative divisions, which may have political, electoral (districts), or administrative objectives. Europe Ecology was a green electoral coalition of political parties in France created for the 2009 European elections composed of The Greens and other ecologists and regionalists. For the European Parliament election in 2014, this electoral alliance was renewed.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is a region in southeast-central France created by the 2014 territorial reform of French regions; it resulted from the merger of Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. The new region came into effect on 1 January 2016, after the regional elections in December 2015.
Miss France 2015, the 85th edition of the Miss France pageant, was held on December 6, 2014 at Zénith d'Orléans in Orléans. Miss France 2014, Flora Coquerel of Orléanais crowned her successor Camille Cerf of Nord-Pas-de-Calais at the end of the event. She represented France at Miss Universe 2014. It was the first time that the pageant took place in Orléans and the third time in the Centre-Val de Loire region.

The 2021–22 Coupe de France preliminary rounds made up the qualifying competition to decide which teams took part in the main competition from seventh round. This was the 105th season of the main football cup competition of France. The competition was organised by the French Football Federation (FFF) and was normally open to all clubs in French football, as well as clubs from the overseas departments and territories.
