The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a political party in Pakistan established in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer and politician Imran Khan, who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. The PTI ranks among the three major Pakistani political parties alongside the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), and it is the largest party in terms of representation in the National Assembly of Pakistan since the 2018 general election. With over 10 million members in Pakistan and abroad, it claims to be the country's largest political party by primary membership, as well as one of the largest political parties in the world.
Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq is a Pakistani politician who is the president of the Pakistan Muslim League (Z). A son of military dictator Gen Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, he served as Minister for Religious Affairs and Minorities in the government of General Pervez Musharraf from 2004 to 2007, after having served as Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis in the government of Nawaz Sharif from 1990 to 1993.
Amir Muqam is a Pakistani politician who serves as the Federal Minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit Baltistan along with States and frontier regions in Shehbaz Sharif cabinet. He is affiliated with PML(N) and serves as its Provincial President in Khyber pakhtunkhwa. He was a close aide to former military dictator Pervez Musharraf. He previously served as advisor to the prime minister on political affairs in the Third Nawaz Sharif ministry and Yousaf Raza Gillani Ministry. He is also a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan. Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly from 2002 to 2007 and again from 2008 to 2013. Muqam has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 29, 2024.
Gallup Pakistan, affiliated to Gallup International Association, is a research organization located in Pakistan.
General elections were held in Pakistan on Saturday 11 May 2013 to elect the members of the 14th National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies. The three major parties were the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) led by Nawaz Sharif, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) led by President Asif Ali Zardari and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Imran Khan. Prior to the elections, the ruling PPP formed an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and Awami National Party, while the main opposition party, the PML-N allied with the Pakistan Muslim League (F) and Baloch parties. The PTI led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, also emerged as a key-player.
NA-29 Peshawar-II is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan.
NA-55 Rawalpindi-IV is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan.
Yasmin Rashid is a Pakistani politician and social activist. Rashid held the position of Provincial Minister of Punjab for Primary and Secondary Healthcare and Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education, serving from August 2018 to April 2022, and later from July 2022 to January 2023. Additionally, Yasmin Rashid served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 to January 2023.
NA-187 Rajanpur-I is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan. It mainly includes the area of Jampur Tehsil. Before the 2018 delimitations, it also included the town of Fazilpur, but it has since been moved to the new NA-194 (Rajanpur-II).
General elections were held in Pakistan on 25 July 2018 to elect the members of the 15th National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies. The three major parties were Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by Imran Khan, the Pakistan Muslim League, led by Shehbaz Sharif, and the Pakistan People's Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto. The PTI won the most seats in the National Assembly but fell short of a majority; the party subsequently formed a coalition government with several smaller parties. At the provincial level, the PTI remained the largest party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP); the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) retained its dominance in Sindh; and the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) emerged as the largest party in Balochistan. In Punjab, the result was a hung parliament, with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) winning the most seats. However, after several independent MPAs joined the PTI, the latter became the largest party and was able to form a government.
Ayesha Gulalai Wazir is a Pakistani politician who was a former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2013 to May 2018.
Gulzar Khan was a Pakistani bureaucrat-turned-politician who had been a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from June 2013 to August 2017.
Usman Khan Tarakai is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from the constituency NA-19 (Swabi-II) from August 2018 till January 2023. Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly from NA-12 Swabi-I from 2008 to May 2018.
Sahabzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan is a Pakistani politician who had been the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, in office from 5 October 2018 to 18 November 2019. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023.
Natasha Daultana is an Imcumbent member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since February 2024. She is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from February 2008 to 2013.
There was a by-election in the Pakistani parliamentary constituency of NA-120 on 17 September 2017, following the decision given by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from public office. PML (N) candidate Kulsoom Nawaz Sharif secured 61,745 votes and defeated Yasmin Rashid of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Fawad Ahmed Hussain Chaudhry is a Pakistani politician who served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, in office since 14 April 2021 to 10 April 2022. On 24 May 2023 announced he is taking "break" from politics.
General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, 25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013. The PTI also won 8 out of 10 reserved seats while the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won 1 reserved seat each.
NA-242 Karachi Keamari-I is a constituency for the National Assembly of Pakistan that encompasses Baldia.
Provincial elections were held in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 8 February 2024 to elect members of the 12th Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On 5 August 2023, the results of the 2023 digital census were approved by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Therefore, elections have been delayed for several months, as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023, as announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). On 2 November 2023, the ECP announced, in agreement with the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, that the elections would be held on 8 February 2024. This election was held concurrently with nationwide general elections and other provincial elections.
