The Order of Merit is a Lebanese order of merit established on 16 January 1922.
The Lebanese Order of Merit was created by decision No. 1080 (dated 16 January 1922) and is regulated by the code of decorations decree (Law 122 dated 12 June 1959).
This order consists of two dignities and four ordinary classes as follows:

Émile Jamil Lahoud is a Lebanese politician who served as the 16th president of Lebanon from 1998 to 2007. His main foreign-policy achievement was to end the Israeli occupation of Southern Lebanon in May 2000, which was occupied since 1982. He downplayed sectarianism and rearmed the Lebanese army, with help from Syria. However factionalism and Lebanon's politics undermined his strength.
The Order of the Nile was established in 1915 and was one of the Kingdom of Egypt's principal orders until the monarchy was abolished in 1953. It was then reconstituted as the Republic of Egypt's highest state honor.
The National Order of the Cedar is the highest state order of Lebanon, established on 31 December 1936. It is offered in five grades.
Prince Muhammad bin Talal was a member of the Jordanian royal family. He was the second son of King Talal of Jordan and the younger brother of King Hussein of Jordan. He was heir-presumptive to the throne from his elder brother's accession in 1952, until the birth of his nephew (Abdullah) in 1962.
Michel Suleiman is a Lebanese Maronite Christian politician who served as President of Lebanon from 2008 to 2014. Before becoming president, he served as commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces from 1998 to 2008.
The Decoration of Honour for Services to the Republic of Austria is a state decoration of the Republic of Austria. It is divided into 15 classes and is the highest award in the Austrian national honours system.
The Order of the Star of Jordan or The Order of Hussein ibn Ali is an award and military decoration of the sovereign state of Jordan and is awarded for military or civil merit. It was founded in honour of his father, by King Abdullah I on 22 June 1949. The Grand Cordon class was introduced by Hussein of Jordan on 23 September 1967. It is awarded to members of the Royal Family (Hashemite) in two classes. The award possesses 5 Grades; plus a medal. These may be awarded to anyone deserving. A Ribbon is issued for members of the military; Dark green with narrow purple edge stripes. Recipients use the postnomials SJ which are altered depending on the class awarded; GCSJ for Grand Cordon; GOSJ for Grand officer; CSJ for Commander; OSJ for Officer; and KSJ for Knight.
The Ordre national du Mérite is a French order of merit with membership awarded by the President of the French Republic, founded on 3 December 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle. The reason for the order's establishment was twofold: to replace the large number of ministerial orders previously awarded by the ministries; and to create an award that can be awarded at a lower level than the Legion of Honour, which is generally reserved for French citizens. It comprises about 185,000 members; 306,000 members have been admitted or promoted in 50 years.
Maha Bayrakdar Al-Khal is a Syrian-Lebanese poet and artist. Bayrakdar sketched and wrote poetry at an early age; she completed fine arts studies in her native Damascus before obtaining a business administration degree in Munich, Germany. In 1967, she won the Miss Syria beauty pageant. In 1970 Bayrakdar married the Lebanese-Syrian poet Yusuf al-Khal and has two children with him, Ward and Youssef, both of whom are acclaimed actors in the Middle East.
