Oshie Ridge is found in Obanliku Local Government of Cross River State in Nigeria.The ridge is about 1,716 metres or 5,630 feet high above sealevel. The word Oshie or Ushie denotes justice in the various languages spoken by the former and current inhabitants of the Oshie ridge. In fact, the name Oshie also spelt Ushie, is a popular male name for the Bekwarra, Obudu and Obanliku people.

Oshie Ridge is one of the two ridges making the Sankwala Mountains with the other ridge known as Sankwala. [1]

The Oshie Plateau

Oshie Ridge has a relatively flat top, forming a plateau on the ridge. The plateau is known as the Obudu Plateau.

The Plateau has a ranch developed on it by three Scottish ranchers named McCaughley, Hugh Jones and Crawfeild in 1951, after McCaughley first explored the sankwala mountain ranges in 1949 and invited his remaining two fellow ranchers Hugh Jones and Crawfeild to develop the ranch. [2] The ranch contains cattle and is popularly known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch. [3] [4]

Obudu is a local government area and town in Cross River State, Nigeria. The area features a tourist resort, Obudu Mountain Resort, which hosts an annual mountain running competition called the Obudu Ranch International Mountain Race. The town of Obudu is downstream from the Obudu Dam, which has caused acute scarcity of drinking water in the dry season. The town is approximately 17 kilometers away from Bebi Airport and is a 6-hour drive from Calabar, the capital of Cross River.

Newman Haynes Clanton, also known as "Old Man" Clanton, was a cattle rancher and father of four sons, one of whom was killed during the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Two of his sons were involved in multiple conflicts in Cochise County, Arizona Territory including stagecoach robbery and cattle rustling. His son, Ike Clanton, was identified by one witness as a participant in the murder of Morgan Earp. Billy Clanton and Ike were both present at the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in which Billy was killed. "Old Man" Clanton was reportedly involved with stealing cattle from Mexican ranchers and re-selling them in the United States. Records indicate he participated in the Skeleton Canyon Massacre of Mexican smugglers. Obanliku is made up of ten wards namely: Busi, Basang, Bebi, Bisu, Utanga, Becheve, Bendi 1, Bendi 2, Bishiri North & Bishiri South. Obanliku Local Government is located in the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State. It is both an inter-State and international boundary Local Government Area. The men's and women's competition winners receive US$50,000 each, and there is a total prize pot of around $250,000.

The Blue Ridge Berryessa Natural Area is a conservation area forming a contiguous corridor of 800,000 acres (3,200 km2) in northern California. Obudu Plateau is a plateau found on the Oshie Ridge of the Sankwala Mountain range, in Cross River State, in the southeast of Nigeria. The plateau is found in Obanliku local government area of the Cross River State. The plateau extends towards Nigeria's south eastern border. The Obudu Plateau is spread over an area of over 40 square miles (100 km2) and rises to about 5,200 ft above sea level. The plateau is a giant massif in its own right, and its peak reaches a height of about 1,716 metres (5,630 ft) above sea level. The plateau is a habitat of rare species of birds.

The Sankwala Mountains are a mountain range in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State in Nigeria. The Sankwala Mountains lie southeast of the town of Obudu, north of the Okwangwo section of Cross River National Park. The mountains attain an average elevation of about 1,800 metres (5,906 ft) above sea level.

Bebi Airport is an airport serving Bebi in the Cross River State of Nigeria. It also serves as the airport for the Obudu Mountain Resort. The runway is 18 kilometres (11 mi) east of the town of Obudu.
