Otega Oweh (born June 21, 2003) [1] is an American college basketball player for the Kentucky Wildcats of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He previously played for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Oweh attended Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. [2] He helped lead Team Final to a 17U Peach Jam title, totaling 17 points and five rebounds in the championship game. [3] A four-star recruit, Oweh committed to play college basketball at the University of Oklahoma. [4]
After playing sparingly as a freshman, Oweh started 28 games as a sophomore, averaging 11.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. [5] At the conclusion of his sophomore season, he entered the transfer portal. [6] On April 27, 2024, Oweh announced his decision to transfer to the University of Kentucky to play for the Kentucky Wildcats. [7] In his Kentucky debut against Wright State, he scored a team-high 21 points. [8] In his first season with Kentucky, Oweh emerged as the team's leading scorer. [9] Oweh began his junior season with 26 consecutive games scoring in double figures. [10] On February 26 2025, Oweh scored Kentucky’s final 18 points, set a new career-high with 28 points, and scored the game winner with six seconds remaining against his former team, the Oklahoma Sooners. [11] Four games later in the second round of the 2025 SEC men's basketball tournament, Oweh scored 27 points and made another game winner with 0.5 seconds left against Oklahoma. [12]
