Out of Here is the third album by the London-based acid jazz band Corduroy, released in 1994. [4]

Contents

The album reached No. 73 in the UK Albums Chart in October 1994. [5] The single "Mini" reached No. 76 in the UK Singles Chart and has been included on many Acid Jazz compilation albums. [6] [7] [8] The album also features a cover of Lemmy's Motorhead , which reached No. 82 in the UK Singles Chart. [9] [10] [11] The album was reissued on vinyl by Acid Jazz Records in 2018.

Reception

AllMusic awarded the album 3 stars. [1] Clark Collis from Select rated the album 2 out of 5, calling "Motorhead" "rather excellent", but saying "Other than that, it's difficult not to concur with the band's obvious wish that they'd been around 20 years ago. And not bothering us now." [2] In his review for Louder Than War , Matt Mead states: "Out of Here features mostly full vocal songs, brothers Addison leading the way here with their Stevie Wonder/Manfred Mann type duel vocals", while he describes the single "Mini" as "a bonafide cult classic tune". [3]

Motörhead British rock band

Motörhead were an English rock band formed in London in 1975 by Lemmy, Larry Wallis (guitar), and Lucas Fox (drums). Lemmy was also the primary songwriter and only constant member. The band are often considered a precursor to the new wave of British heavy metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Though several guitarists and drummers have played in Motörhead, most of their best-selling albums and singles feature drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor and guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke.

Galliano (band)

Galliano was a London-based acid jazz group that was active between 1988 and 1997. The group was the first signing to Eddie Piller and Gilles Peterson's Acid Jazz record label. The original members were Rob Gallagher, Constantine Weir (vocals), Michael Snaith and Crispin Robinson (percussion). Other important members included Valerie Etienne, who participated in the recording of all their albums, along with other musicians such as Mick Talbot on keyboards, Crispin Taylor on drums, Ernie McKone on bass guitar, Mark Vandergucht guitar, and Steve Ameedee, otherwise known as Uncle Big Man (dancer).

Doctor and the Medics British glam rock band

Doctor and the Medics is a British glam rock band formed in London in 1981. The group was most successful during the 1980s and is best known for their cover of Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" which reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart. The band currently performs with a newer and established line-up. As well as previously being classed a tribute act to various artists, they include many of their original songs in their live set. The group's musical style includes neo-psychedelia, glam rock, new wave and pop rock.

Motorhead (song)

"Motorhead" is a song written by Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister while he was a member of the English space rock band Hawkwind. It was later recorded by Motörhead, as he called it this instead of Bastard on his then manager's advice.

Exciter (band) Canadian heavy metal band

Exciter is a Canadian heavy metal band from Ottawa, Ontario, formed in 1978. Named after a song by Judas Priest, they are considered to be one of the first speed metal bands and a seminal influence of the thrash metal genre. The band was heavily influenced by a variety of music styles, including Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Rush, Jethro Tull and Grand Funk Railroad. Despite many changes in personnel, as well as two breakups, Exciter has managed to keep a small but dedicated following over the years.

Acid Jazz Records

Acid Jazz Records is a record label based in East London formed by Gilles Peterson and Eddie Piller in 1987. It's the namesake of the acid-jazz subgenre of jazz music for which it is most famously known for producing.

Young Disciples was a British / American acid jazz band, formed in London in 1990 by Carleen Anderson, Marco Nelson and Femi Williams.

Corduroy are an English four-piece acid jazz outfit based in London, formed around twins Ben Addison (drums/vocals) and Scott Addison (keyboards/vocals), who were previously in Sire Records act Boys Wonder. Joining the twins in the band are Richard Searle and guitarist Simon Nelson-Smith. Searle had been bass player with Doctor and the Medics, who topped the UK Singles Chart in 1986 with a cover version of "Spirit in the Sky". Searle had joined the Addison twins in the final incarnation of Boys Wonder, before the band gradually evolved into Corduroy in 1991, initially forming for a one-off New Year's Eve party.

The discography of Motörhead, an English rock band, consists (as of 2021) of twenty-two studio albums, fifteen live albums, sixteen compilation albums, five extended plays (EPs), three box sets, twenty-nine singles, ten video albums and thirty-four music videos. Motörhead were originally formed in 1975 in London by bassist and vocalist Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, after his departure from Hawkwind, who drafted in guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox to complete the band's initial lineup. The trio recorded their debut album for release on United Artists, although it was not released until 1979 as On Parole. After "Fast" Eddie Clarke replaced Wallis, the band's first released album was the self-titled Motörhead, which was issued by Chiswick Records in 1977 and reached number 43 on the UK Albums Chart.

Kings of Speed

"Kings of Speed" is a 1975 song by the British space rock group Hawkwind. It was originally released as a single in the UK (UP35808) on 7 March 1975 and was subsequently included on the album Warrior on the Edge of Time, although its B-side, "Motorhead", was not. Although failing the chart in both the U.S. and the U.K., the track became an underground success, particularly with significant play in dance clubs. The parent album also did well, climbing up the Billboard album chart in the U.S.

Road to Freedom is the debut album of soul and jazz band Young Disciples, the only album the band ever released. Issued in 1991 on the Talkin' Loud label in the UK and on Polygram in the US, the critically well-received album was influential in the music genres of acid jazz and neo soul. Containing two charting singles, "Get Yourself Together" and "Apparently Nothin'", the album itself reached a chart position of number 21. It was on the short list of nominees for the 1992 Mercury Prize and was reissued in 1993 in limited edition with a bonus remix EP of the song "Apparently Nothin'".

Richard Searle is a 1960s-influenced bass guitarist, who was a member of Doctor and the Medics in 1986, when they were reaching number one in the pop charts.
