P. S. Rafeeque (born 1978) is an Indian short story writer, screenwriter and lyricist from Kerala. He made his film debut by screenwriting Nayakan (2010). His breakthrough film was Amen (2013). In literature his notable works are Saddam's Barber, Kaduva (short story collections), Amen (screenplay), Ummoommamapalam Kadanna Eppi (memoir collection). He also wrote the screenplays for the films Raja of Utyopya, Thrissivaperur Kliptham, Thottappan and Malaikottai vaaliban.
Rafeeque was born in 1978 in Eriyad village in Kodungallur, Kerala, India, as the son of Palliparambil Seythu and Kolliyil Kunjibeevathu. He is a graduate in English literature. [1]
He made his film debut by screenwriting the action drama Nayakan (2010) directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. It received positive reviews from critics. Rediff.com wrote that the film "not only grabs your attention by its originality of premise or treatment, but by its sincerity as well". [2] They collaborated again in his second screenplay Amen (2013), a romantic drama, which he wrote based on a one-line told by Pellissery. The film was a critical and commercial success. [3] His 2019 screenplay for Thottappan was based on Francis Noronha's short story. [4] Thottappan got the 50th state film award for best screen play (adaption). [5]
He collaborated with Pellissery for the third time for Malaikottai Vaaliban , [6] a period drama about wrestling.

His stories have received many awards like Bhasha Poshini Award, DC Books Award, Anganam Award, CV Sriraman Katha Award, Geetha Hiranyan Katha award. He won a Film Critics nomination for the song in Amen's Solomon and Shosanna. He won the 50th State Film Award for Best Screenplay for the film Thotappan.

The film won the Silver Peacock-Best Director and Best Actor awards at the 49th International Film Festival of India. S. Hareesh is an Indian writer, translator and screenwriter of Malayalam literature and cinema. He is best known for his short stories and his acclaimed but controversial debut novel, Meesa, which explores caste in Kerala in the mid-20th century. The novel, initially serialized in the Mathrubhumi weekly, was withdrawn after protests by right-wing Hindutva groups and caste-community organizations for "maligning Hindu women and temple priests". It was later published as a full novel by DC Books. Hareesh is the recipient of several honours including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Novel and the Geetha Hiranyan Endowment of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi. In November 2020, the English translation of Meesa, titled Moustache, was selected for the JCB Prize for Literature, the Indian literary award with the highest prize money.
Jallikattu is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language independent action thriller film directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery with a screenplay by S. Hareesh and R. Jayakumar, based on the short story Maoist by Hareesh. The film stars Antony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Santhy Balachandran. In the film, a bull escapes from a slaughterhouse in a hilly remote village and the villagers sets out to hunt it down.

S. Rafeeque, Preeti Pillai and Varun Grover. The soundtrack was released by Saregama on 18 January 2024.
