A study conducted by Ikram-ul-Haq of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences to "explore the progress of social science research carried out by Pakistan", which was based on the "data retrieved from the Scopus database" and was concluded in November 2020, suggested that the journal had been one of the most "preferred source of publications" on the subject in Pakistan. Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East is a triannual peer-reviewed academic journal covering Comparative Studies on Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. It provides a "critical and comparative analyses of the histories, cultural productions, social and gender relations, politics, and economies" of these regions. It is published by the Duke University Press, and since 2012, edited at Columbia University.
