Pakistan competed in the first ever South Asian Winter Games held in Dehradun and Auli, India, from 10 January to 16 January 2011. [1] It sent a contingent of 27 officials and athletes. [1] It participated in slalom, giant slalom, cross-country skiing, and biathlon events. [2]

Australia has competed in every Winter Paralympics. In 1976, the first Games, Australia's sole competitor was Ron Finneran, but he was not an official entrant. In 1980, Kyrra Grunnsund and Peter Rickards became the first official competitors, in alpine and cross-country skiing. The number of Australian athletes increased to three, five, five and six at the next four games, respectively, and all of the athletes were alpine skiers. Naltar is a valley situated near the city of Gilgit in Gilgit−Baltistan, Pakistan. Naltar is about 34 kilometres from Gilgit. Naltar is a forested region known for its dramatic mountain scenery. Naltar valley is also famous for the three lakes-Strangi Lake, Blue Lake and Bodlok Lake. There is also a natural lush green garden known as "Halima garden".

The 2006 South Asian Games were held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from August 18 to August 28, 2006, in the Sugathadasa Stadium with more than 2000 sportspersons competing in the record 20 disciplines of Sports.

South Africa sent a delegation to compete at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, United States from 8–24 February 2002. This was South Africa's fourth time appearing at a Winter Olympic Games. The nation's delegation consisted of a single alpine skier, Alexander Heath. In his best performance, he finished 27th in the men's slalom.

Alpine skiing at the 1999 Winter Asian Games took place in the resort town of Yongpyong, Gangwon, South Korea with six events contested — three each for men and women. Slalom events were reinstated in this edition of the games after being substituted for Super Giant Slalom events in the 1996 Winter Asiad in Harbin, China.

Muhammad Abbas, is a Pakistani alpine skier who was his nation's first competitor at the Winter Olympic Games, in 2010. Muhammad Abbas was not expected to win any medal, but he outraced some of the other debuting skiers. A group said to be particularly interested were Pakistani Canadians.

Pakistan is a member of the South Asian Zone of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), has participated in the Asian Games since their second edition in 1954. The Pakistan Olympic Association, established in 1948, and recognised in the same year by the International Olympic Committee, is the National Olympic Committee for Pakistan.

The 1st South Asian Winter Games were held in Dehradun and Auli, in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, India in January 2011. The games were conducted by the Indian Olympic Association and the Winter Games Federation of India. A grand opening and closing ceremony took place on 10 January 2011 and 16 January 2011, in Dehradun and Auli, respectively.

Ifrah Wali, is a Pakistani alpine skier. She is the first winner of the Giant Slalom event at any South Asian Winter Games when she won at the inaugural games held in India.

Amina Wali is a Pakistani alpine skier. She is the goodwill ambassador to Plan International organisation supporting its campaign "because I am a girl".

Mir Nawaz is a Pakistani alpine skier. His bronze medal in Giant Slalom skiing at the 2011 South Asian Winter Games was Pakistan's first ever medal at any South Asian Winter Games.

Pakistan competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia from 7 to 23 February 2014. Pakistan's team consisted of one athlete in alpine skiing. The country competed for the second consecutive Winter Games, after making its debut four years earlier in Vancouver. The flag bearer for the opening and closing ceremonies was Pakistan's sole athlete Muhammad Karim.

Muhammad Karim is an alpine skier from Pakistan. He became the second Pakistani to participate at a Winter Olympics when he competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He participated in the slalom and giant slalom events and got a rank of 71 in the giant slalom. He also competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. He participated in the giant slalom and secured a rank of 72.

Alpine skiing at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held from 12 to 24 February at Yongpyong Alpine Centre at the Alpensia Sports Park in PyeongChang and at the Jeongseon Alpine Centre in Jeongseon, South Korea.

Alpine skiing at the 2017 Asian Winter Games was held in Sapporo, Japan between 22–25 February at Sapporo Teine. A total of four events were contested: men's and women's giant slalom and slalom.

Pakistan sent a delegation to contest at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from February 9 to 25, 2018. This was Pakistan's third appearance at a Winter Olympic Games. The Pakistani delegation consisted of two athletes: alpine skier Muhammad Karim and cross-country skier Syed Human. As of the close of these Olympics, Pakistan has yet to win a Winter Olympics medal.

Mohammad Arif Khan is an Indian alpine skier, who competes in the slalom.
