Pakistan women's national swimming team

The Pakistan women's national swimming team represents Pakistan in international swimming competitions. It is administered by the Pakistan Swimming Federation (PSF). Members of the team compete at competitions including the continental and regional games (Asian and South Asian Games) and championships. Members have also participated at the Olympics with Rubab Raza the first ever female Pakistani swimmer to do so when she competed at the 2004 Games in Athens, Greece. [1]

History

Due to a ban by the Government of Pakistan, women were not allowed to compete internationally [2] until the early 2000s. The Secretary of PSF, Veena Salman Masud petitioned the government to allow them to compete as long as they respected cultural and religious norms. [3]

Lindsay Dianne Benko, known by her married name Lindsay Mintenko since 2005, is an American former competition swimmer, two-time Olympian, former world record-holder, and a managing director of USA Swimming. She represented the United States women as a Team Captain at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics, taking a gold medal in freestyle relays both years. She held the short-course world record in the 400-meter freestyle at 3:59.53, for nearly three years from January 2003 to December 2005.

Hannah Jane Arnett Wilson is a Hong Kong retired amateur swimmer. She is a three-time Olympic swimmer for Hong Kong, having swum at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She has won two career Universiade gold medals. As of July 11, 2009, Wilson currently holds 10 Hong Kong records and two Universiade records in swimming.

The Auburn Tigers swimming and diving program is Auburn University's representative in the sport of swimming and diving. The Tigers compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 and are members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The program started in 1932 when the pool was in the basement of the gymnasium. The program had to telegraph their timed results to other schools and compare as the pool was too small for competitions.

She won a total of 124 medals, of which 74 were gold medals, at Swimming World Cup circuits over the course of her career. She won 14 total medals in individual events, 11 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze, from her first three Central American and Caribbean Games, in 2006, 2010, and 2018.

Shikha Tandon is an Indian former swimmer from Bangalore, India. Tandon has won 146 national medals, and 36 medals in international competitions, including five gold medals. Currently, she is a member of USADA’s science team, assisting in the daily operation, development, and maintenance of the resources, reporting, and projects critical to USADA’s scientific initiatives.

Valeria Silva Merea is a Peruvian swimmer/surgeon, who specialized in breaststroke events. She is a three-time national record holder for the breaststroke events, a two-time Olympic swimmer, and a multiple-time gold medalist at the 2008 South American Swimming Championships in São Paulo, Brazil.

Michelle Engelsman is an Australian former competition swimmer who specialised in sprint freestyle events. She was a silver medalist in the 50-metre freestyle at the 2003 Summer Universiade, and also, a sixth-place finalist in the same event at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Lianna Catherine Swan, OLY is a British-Pakistani swimmer who holds seven Pakistani national records. She specialises in breaststroke. In July/August 2014, she represented Pakistan at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, UK. Lianna also represented Pakistan in 2016 South Asian Games in Guwahati, India. Lianna represented Pakistan at the Rio Olympics 2016 and Tokyo Olympics 2020 in Women's 50m freestyle.

Alice Georgina Nana Dearing is a British swimmer, specialising in open water events. In June 2021, Dearing qualified to represent Great Britain in the 2020 Olympics. Dearing co-founded the Black Swimming Association in 2020. The charity was founded to encourage swimming among BME communities in Britain, and has the support of Swim England.

Members of the team compete in singles, doubles and team events at competitions including continental and regional games and continental championships. It has participated in the Asian Squash Team Championships ; Asian Games (2018); Commonwealth Games (2018) and South Asian Games.

The Pakistan women's national boxing team represents Pakistan in international boxing competitions. It is administered by the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF). The team competed internationally for the first time at the South Asian Games held in Guwahati, India in 2016. It debuted at the continental level at the Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018.

The Pakistan women's national judo team represents Pakistan in international judo competitions. It is administered by the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF). Members of the team compete in competitions including regional games.
