Pamela Ashley Brown (born November 29, 1983) is an American television reporter and newscaster. She is currently CNN's chief investigative correspondent. She formerly worked for ABC Washington, D.C., affiliate WJLA-TV, and she is also fill-in and substitute anchor for CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Erin Burnett OutFront . [1] [2] [3] Brown occasionally provided the lead-in to "Politico's Video Playback"—a daily recap of the previous night's U.S. late-night talk shows.
Brown was born in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of businessman and former Governor of Kentucky John Y. Brown Jr. and former Miss America and businesswoman Phyllis George (1949–2020). At the time, George took maternity leave from her duties on CBS' NFL pregame show, The NFL Today . Brown is the granddaughter of politician John Y. Brown Sr. and the half-sister of former Kentucky Secretary of State John Y. Brown, III. Her parents divorced in 1996 after 17 years of marriage, when Brown was 13. [4]
Brown graduated from Henry Clay High School in Lexington and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill [4] with a degree in broadcast journalism. While at the University of North Carolina, Brown was a reporter on the university's Carolina Week. After college, she worked for ABC-affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington. [4] [1] Brown is currently pursuing a Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree from George Washington University Law School. [5]
In January 2021, CNN announced that Brown would move to senior Washington correspondent and would host three hours of CNN Newsroom on weekends. [6]
On August 14, 2023, CNN announced in a major programming overhaul that Brown would helm a new weekday show from 3–4 p.m. ET entitled The Bulletin with Pamela Brown. [7] In February 2024, it was announced that The Bulletin would instead air at 11 a.m. ET, and premiere once Brown returns from maternity leave. [8] In September 2024, Brown's show premiered, except under the CNN Newsroom branding (which had been hosted by Wolf Blitzer in the interim) instead. [9]
Brown has an older brother, Lincoln (born 1980) and three half-siblings from her father's prior marriage. [4] Brown was named after her aunt Pamela Brown, [1] who died in 1970 at the age of 28 together with her husband Rod Anderson and balloonist Malcolm Brighton, in an ill-fated attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a Rozière balloon, Free Life . Brown married Adam Wright on June 5, 2017. [11] In June 2018, their son was born, [12] followed by a daughter in February 2020. [13]
Phyllis Ann George was an American businesswoman, actress, and sportscaster. In 1975, George was hired as a reporter and co-host of the CBS Sports pre-show The NFL Today, becoming one of the first women to hold an on-air position in national televised sports broadcasting. She also served as the First Lady of Kentucky from 1979 to 1983.
Carol Costello is an American television anchor and former host of CNN Newsroom. In 2017, she left CNN to join sister network HLN, based in Los Angeles. In October 2018, HLN announced that Costello would be let go, with the final broadcast of her show taking place on October 26.

Inside Politics is a political talk show, broadcast on CNN. What was a Sunday morning talk show was then expanded to additional weekday broadcasts in 2016. Abby Phillip began hosting the Sunday edition in 2021, renamed as Inside Politics Sunday. In April 2023, CNN announced that Dana Bash would take over as permanent host while John King would depart the program to work on a new project.
