Panama International Piano Competition

The Panama International Piano Competition is held at the Teatro Nacional in Panama City every two years. It was established in 2004 by Jaime and Nelly Ingram. [1] The 7th Competition is scheduled to take place in October 2016. [2] Award winners receive cash prizes. Additional special prizes are available for the best performance of one of the first two Sonatas composed by Alberto Ginastera, best performance of a Brazilian composition, and best performance of a work composed by Joaquín Rodrigo. [3]

The Sendai International Music Competition is a triennial violin and piano music competition held in Sendai, Japan, presented in association with the Sendai International Music Competition Organizing Committee, City of Sendai and the Sendai Cultural Foundation. The Maria Canals International Music Competition is a music competition held yearly in the Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona. It was founded as a piano competition in 1954, but in 1964 it was expanded so other modalities could be held occasionally.

Li Ming-Qiang - is a Chinese classical pianist. He studied under Alfred Wittenberg and Tatiana Kravchenko, and as a young pianist in the late 1950s and early 1960s won awards at several Eastern European music competitions: the Smetana Competition in Prague in 1957, the George Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest in 1958, the VI International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1960. His recordings comprise pieces by the classics and romantics, as well as piano music by Chinese composers.

The Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition is a piano competition taking place in Santander, Spain. Founded in 1972 by Paloma O'Shea as a national prize, it turned into an international competition in its 2nd edition, and was professionalized in the mid-70s, being accepted into the World Federation of International Music Competitions in 1976.

José Carlos Cocarelli is a Brazilian classical pianist resident in France. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he was a pupil of Adele Marcus and Merces de Silva Telles. He was awarded second prize on the 1984 Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition, he won the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 1985 and the Concours Long-Thibaud in 1986.

Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto is a Spanish-American pianist. He was described by Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung as "A musical sculptor who chisels out melodic lines with sharp contours". and "He set off a firework on the 88 piano keys which excited the audience in the Kulturzentrum right from the start"

<i>The Kings of the World</i> 2022 film

The Kings of the World is a 2022 internationally co-produced drama road movie directed by Laura Mora Ortega. Set in Medellín, the drama is about five teenage friends who live on the streets. As a result, they leave a Colombian city to start over in the countryside. The film premiered in September 2022 at the 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival where it won the Golden Shell for Best Picture.
