The Panama International Piano Competition is held at the Teatro Nacional in Panama City every two years. It was established in 2004 by Jaime and Nelly Ingram. [1] The 7th Competition is scheduled to take place in October 2016. [2] Award winners receive cash prizes. Additional special prizes are available for the best performance of one of the first two Sonatas composed by Alberto Ginastera, best performance of a Brazilian composition, and best performance of a work composed by Joaquín Rodrigo. [3]

The Sendai International Music Competition is a triennial violin and piano music competition held in Sendai, Japan, presented in association with the Sendai International Music Competition Organizing Committee, City of Sendai and the Sendai Cultural Foundation. In the competition there is no overall winner, rather there are six winners each from the violin and piano categories, with the first-placed winners receiving the highest prize. Although the competition is international, most award-winners have been from either Europe or Asia. The first award-winner from outside those continents was American Sean Kennard, who finished fifth in the 2004 competition's piano category.

The Maria Canals International Music Competition is a music competition held yearly in the Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona. It was founded as a piano competition in 1954, but in 1964 it was expanded so other modalities could be held occasionally.
Li Ming-Qiang - is a Chinese classical pianist. He studied under Alfred Wittenberg and Tatiana Kravchenko, and as a young pianist in the late 1950s and early 1960s won awards at several Eastern European music competitions: the Smetana Competition in Prague in 1957, the George Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest in 1958, the VI International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1960. His recordings comprise pieces by the classics and romantics, as well as piano music by Chinese composers.
The Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition is a piano competition taking place in Santander, Spain. Founded in 1972 by Paloma O'Shea as a national prize, it turned into an international competition in its 2nd edition, and was professionalized in the mid-70s, being accepted into the World Federation of International Music Competitions in 1976.
José Carlos Cocarelli is a Brazilian classical pianist resident in France. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he was a pupil of Adele Marcus and Merces de Silva Telles. He was awarded second prize on the 1984 Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition, he won the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in 1985 and the Concours Long-Thibaud in 1986.

The Premio Jaén is the longest-running piano competition in Spain. It was established in 1958 and is held in the Andalusian city Jaén. The Competition has been a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions since 2004.
Natasha Barrett is a British contemporary music composer specialising in electroacoustic art music. Her compositional aesthetics are derived from acousmatic issues. In addition to acousmatic concert music, she composes for instruments, live electronics, sound installations, multi-media works, real-time computer music improvisation, has made soundscapes for exhibitions, and music for contemporary dance and theater. Since 2000 her work has been influenced by spatialisation as a musical parameter, and the projection of 3-D sound-fields. She currently lives in Norway.

Antonio Rey Navas is a Spanish flamenco guitarist and composer. He is a winner of several national and international flamenco guitar competitions including the Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba, the Concurso Nacional de Guitarra Flamenca Niño Ricardo and the Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Flamenca Los Cernícalos de Jerez.
Marcos Madrigal (Havana) is a Cuban pianist.
Evgeny Konnov is a Russian pianist. He is the winner of many competitions, the most important of them: 2018 first prize and public prize at the 64th Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona, 2019 first prize and public prize at the 31st International Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition in Seregno, 2020 first prize at the 14th Unisa International Piano Competition in South Africa. In the season 2020/2021 he was an artist in residence at the Staatstheater Augsburg. His debut album was released by Naxos in 2022 with piano sonatas by the Catalan composer Antonio Soler and was highly acclaimed by the international press.
Juan Carlos Fernández-Nieto is a Spanish-American pianist. He was described by Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung as "A musical sculptor who chisels out melodic lines with sharp contours". and "He set off a firework on the 88 piano keys which excited the audience in the Kulturzentrum right from the start"
The Kings of the World is a 2022 internationally co-produced drama road movie directed by Laura Mora Ortega. Set in Medellín, the drama is about five teenage friends who live on the streets. As a result, they leave a Colombian city to start over in the countryside. The film premiered in September 2022 at the 70th San Sebastián International Film Festival where it won the Golden Shell for Best Picture.
