The Papanack Park Zoo is a small zoo in Wendover, Ontario, Canada. It opened in 1994 and came under new ownership in 2014 with the intention of acting as a conservation park. [1]
It has 36 different species, including snow monkeys, cougars, snow leopard and white lion cubs. These cubs are the offspring of the zoo's African lions although they did not stay white as they grew. It also has four white Bengal tigers including a "snowball" tiger named Venus. The zoo is approximately a 25-minute drive from Canada's capital, Ottawa.
A number of animals at the zoo have been shown in the children's documentary, Zoboomafoo , with Chris Kratt and Martin Kratt. An African lion named Simba was a model for production sketches of the main character used in Disney's The Lion King .[ citation needed ]
In 2016, a lion named Zeus escaped from the zoo due to human error. It was shot and killed because of concerns for public safety. [2]
In 2016, undercover footage was released by Animal Justice depicting acts of animal cruelty including a zoo manager describing how he trained a lion cub by repeatedly hitting the baby animal in the face. It also includes the zoo's management stating that several Père David's deers (extinct in the wild) broke their necks after running into the fence of their enclosure. [3]
In 2021, a kangaroo named Willow escaped her enclosure before being found by the side of the road injured. The kangaroo died. [4]

The white lion is a rare colour mutation of the lion, specifically the Southern African lion. White lions in the area of Timbavati are thought to have been indigenous to the Timbavati region of South Africa for centuries, although the earliest recorded sighting in this region was in 1938. White lions first became known to the English-speaking world in 1977 through the book The White Lions of Timbavati.

The Buenos Aires Eco Park is an 18-hectare (44-acre) park in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The former zoo, opened in 1888, contained 89 species of mammals, 49 species of reptiles and 175 species of birds, with a total of over 2,500 animals. The institution's goals are to conserve species, produce research and to educate the public. In June 2016 the city formed a bias about the zoo's cruelty. They had to close the 140-year-old zoo and relocate most of the animals to nature reserves, including Temaikèn. The zoo property will be converted into an ecopark.

The ZooParc de Beauval, more commonly called Beauval Zoo or, more simply, Beauval, is a French zoological park located in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher, Centre-Val de Loire. Yorkshire Wildlife Park is an official member of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) and the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA).
