The Paraguay women's national rugby sevens team is a national sevens side. They have played in the Sudamerica Rugby women's sevens championships. They have qualified for the Sevens Challenger Series in 2023. [1]

In 2018, the Colombians won their first significant international honour, winning the inaugural Americas Rugby Challenge, the 'B' championship to the Americas Rugby Championship.

The current name of the championships is South American Six Nations, implemented in 2018. The Argentina women's national rugby sevens team has been the second most successful team in South America after Brazil. At the CONSUR Women's Sevens, Argentina has been runner-up three times.

The 2018 Sudamérica Rugby Sevens was the twelfth edition of the Sudamérica Rugby Sevens, the continental championship for rugby sevens in South America. Five national teams competed for two slots, not only for the 2018 Hong Kong Sevens qualification tournament, but also for participation at the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens.

Sudamérica Rugby Sevens, previously known as the CONSUR Sevens, is an annual rugby sevens tournament organized by Sudamérica Rugby. It was contested since 2006, and became a multi-tournament circuit starting with the 2017 incarnation.

The 2019 Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens Olympic Qualifying Tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics held on 1–2 June 2019. The winner of the tournament represents Sudamérica Rugby, with the runner-up and third place participant qualified for a 2020 repechage tournament.

Super Rugby Americas (SRA) will be the new franchise rugby tournament format in Americas, and the first season will begin on February 18, 2023 after efforts by World Rugby.​ It will be organized and led by Sudamérica Rugby, the highest rugby entity in South America.

The 2020 Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens was the 18th edition of the tournament. It was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from 28 to 29 November. Eight teams competed at the tournament, Brazil won their 17th title and cemented their dominance of South America.

The 2019 Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens (Asunción) was the 16th edition of the Sudamérica Women's Sevens and was held in Paraguay from 27 to 28 April. The tournament was a warm-up ahead of the 2019 Sudamérica Women's Olympic qualifying tournament in Peru for the Tokyo Olympics. Although the tournament was not a continental championship it still had some prestige. Brazil were crowned champions and Argentina were runners-up.

The 2019 Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens (Montevideo) was the 18th edition of the Sudamérica Women's Sevens and was held in Montevideo, Uruguay from 8–9 November. Brazil defeated Argentina in the final to win their 17th Sudamérica title.

This edition of the 2017 Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens was held in Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba, Argentina from 18 to 19 February. Despite losing to Brazil in the final, Argentina still got to play at the 2017 USA Women's Sevens in Las Vegas because Brazil was already in the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. Argentina and Colombia also qualified to compete in the Hong Kong Sevens Qualifier Tournament for the 2017–18 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series. This was Brazil's 13th Sudamérica title.

The women's tournament of the rugby sevens at the 2022 South American Games was held from 7 to 9 October 2022 at the Estadio Héroes de Curupayty in Luque, Paraguay, a sub-venue outside Asunción. It was the third edition of the rugby sevens women's tournament at the South American Games since its first appearance in Santiago 2014.

The men's tournament of the rugby sevens at the 2022 South American Games was held from 7 to 9 October 2022 at the Estadio Héroes de Curupayty in Luque, Paraguay, a sub-venue outside Asunción. It was the third edition of the rugby sevens men's tournament at the South American Games since its first appeareance in Santiago 2014.

The women's qualification for the Olympic rugby sevens tournament will occur between November 2022 and June 2024, allocating twelve teams for the final tournament. All six WR zones are expected to have a continental representation in the Olympic rugby sevens tournament. The host nation France reserves a direct quota place each in the men's and women's tournament with the remainder of the total quota attributed to the eligible NOCs across three qualifying routes.

The 2023 Challenger Series for women's rugby sevens teams is the second season of the second-tier circuit that allows a promotion pathway to the World Rugby Sevens Series.
