Parelius Meyer Mentsen (1 October 1902 – 22 April 1985) was a Norwegian trade unionist, who served as leader of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) from 1965 to 1969.
Mentsen was born in Ballangen Municipality in Ofoten, Norway. He was a timberer by education and occupation, but soon joined trade union and the Norwegian Labour Party in Narvik. He became secretary of the trade union (Samorg) in Finmark in 1936 and worked at the Tromsø office of Confederation of Trade Unions from 1940. In 1946 he was elected secretary of the Confederation of Trade Unions with office in Oslo. [1]
He became the deputy leader of the Confederation of Trade Unions from 1950 to 1965 and leader from 1965 to 1969. [2] He was elected leader as a compromise candidate after Konrad Nordahl and only served one term. During his time, the trade union made a collective home insurance contract available for members. [1]
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions is a national trade union center, decidedly the largest and probably the most influential umbrella organization of labour unions in Norway. The 21 national unions affiliated to the LO have almost 1,000,000 members of a Norwegian population of 5 million. The majority of affiliated unions organizes traditional blue collar workers, but the largest affiliate is the Norwegian Union of Municipal and General Employees which makes up more than a third of all members. LO is affiliated to the ITUC and the ETUC.

Finn Kristensen is a Norwegian electrician, trade unionist, and politician affiliated with the Labour Party. He served as Minister of Industry in 1981, from 1986 to1988, and from 1992 to 1993. Additionally, he was the Minister of Petroleum and Energy from 1990 to 1992. Kristensen represented Telemark as a Member of Parliament from 1969 to 1985.
Alfred Martin Madsen was a Norwegian engineer, newspaper editor, trade unionist and politician for the Norwegian Labour Party. He began as deputy chairman of their youth wing, while also working as an engineer. In the 1910s he rose in the hierarchy of the party press, and eventually in the Labour Party and the Confederation of Trade Unions as well. He was an important party and trade union strategist in the 1920s. He served six terms in the Norwegian Parliament, and was the parliamentary leader of his party for many years. He was twice a member of the national cabinet, as Minister of Social Affairs in 1928 and Minister of Trade from 1935 to 1939.
Gerd-Liv Valla is a Norwegian former trade union leader, who served as leader of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO). She took over in 2001 and resigned in 2007 as a result of the so-called Valla affair. In 1997 she briefly served as minister of justice.

From 2016 to 2018 she was President of the Norwegian Association for Women's Rights, the preeminent women's and girls' rights organisation in Norway.
