Pasco eSchool is a public K–12 online school in Pasco County, Florida, United States. Founded in 2009 as a part of Pasco County Schools, the school is a district franchise of Florida Virtual School. Pasco eSchool has provided classroom space at Angeline Academy of Innovation, which it occasionally uses. The school was later used during the COVID–19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The school saw an increase in enrollment during that time.
Pasco eSchool has full-time and part-time enrollment options for students. The school has over 100 staff members. As of 2025, Pasco eSchool has a total of 1,480 students in the school's full-time K–12 program.
The school is funded by the Pasco County School District and Florida state levels. It also has Advanced Placement courses, in addition to dual enrollment, which the school gets from cooperation with nearby colleges. Pasco eSchool created the first virtual American Sign Language course in the United States. [3]

Pasco eSchool was created by the Pasco County Schools in July 7, [4] 2009, [4] [7] [8] as a virtual alternative school [9] franchise of Florida Virtual School, [10] [11] for the 2009-10 school year. [12] The first student class that graduated was in 2010. [5] Former principal JoAnne Glenn was the founder of the school. [13] More than 1,000 students attended the school when it first opened. [14]
Virtual schools, including Pasco eSchool, were one of the schools used instead of brick and mortar schools during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. [15] The school was one of three school options (including mySchool Online, and brick and mortar) that the school district provided for students during the time period. The student enrollment increased by 2,807 students in 2020, [15] and in 2021, about 3% of all children in the district were enrolled as students in Pasco eSchool. [8] [21]
Pasco eSchool was based in a fringe rural setting, [22] on the campus of Crews Lake Middle School [23] in Spring Hill, Florida. [22] The virtual school stopped using Crews Lake Middle School when it was moved into the newly-built school of Angeline Academy of Innovation in 2023. [24]
Since 2023, Pasco eSchool's office has been situated at the campus of Angeline Academy of Innovation. [25] [24] The school administers Florida State testing from the classrooms in Angeline Academy. [26] Pasco eSchool also uses the rooms for helping students who need additional support, having virtual instruction periods, [27] providing offices for teachers, [28] and hosting occasional in–person visits. [27] High schoolers have their own in-person events, like learning labs at school. [26]
Pasco eSchool has a total of about 150 staff members who work in different sectors and positions. [29]
As of 2025, Pasco eSchool has had three principals, changing them two times since the school was founded. [30] [31] [32] Since 2024, Lori Wiggins is the current principal of Pasco eSchool. [31] [32] JoAnne Glenn, founder of Pasco eSchool, was also the school's first principal. [13]
As of 2025, Pasco eSchool has about 123 virtual teachers, [29] with the student–teacher ratio being 19:1. [33] They are locally employed from around Pasco County [26] and at least 92% of the teachers are certified to teach. [34]
Pasco eSchool serves students K–12 [35] [36] [37] free of charge. [36] At Pasco eSchool, students do their school work using digital devices at home, [38] [39] [40] and can work at their own pace during non-traditional school hours in the day. [41] [42] [10] Students may engage in contact with teachers and classmates during web-based class sessions. [10]
The school has a full-time and a part-time enrollment program. [43] All K–12 students in Pasco eSchool full-time enrollment take all of their total six courses digitally at Pasco eSchool. [44] Pasco eSchool has a 28 day grace period for students to drop out. [26]
Pasco eSchool teaches 1,480 full-time students yearly, [46] serving students K–12. [47] Pasco eSchool instructs 8,000 individual students both within and outside of Pasco County, in annual total, including part-time and full-time enrolled students. Pasco eSchool is funded by the Pasco County School Board since 2009. [14] [51] The school is also funded by the State of Florida, when Pasco eSchool's students are successful in learning. [52]
At Pasco eSchool, each course is completed digitally, and is designed to be able to be completed in 18 weeks or less by students. [38] The courses can be completed at students' own paces. [16]
Pasco eSchool has the same courses as Florida Virtual School, [26] though it has 50 more elective, career, and technical courses compared to that of Florida Virtual School. [6] The school has more course options than any other learning program in the State of Florida. [26]
In July 2012, [53] Pasco eSchool was the first virtual school to create its own elective American Sign Language class in the United States. [54] [53]
The school offers several Advanced Placement (AP) courses for high school students. [55] [34] The AP participation rate is 32%. [55] There are a total of 23 Advanced Placement courses at Pasco eSchool. [34] Pasco eSchool also has an Accelerated Math program for gifted students. [56] [57]
Pasco eSchool has dual enrollment college courses from partnership with Pasco–Hernando State College and the University of South Florida.
