Rear-Admiral Sir Patrick Barton Rowe KCVO CBE (born 1939) is a retired Royal Navy officer.

The son of a Royal Navy captain, Barton entered the Navy himself in 1960; after serving in the Far East Fleet and then in various command and staff roles, he was appointed Military Deputy to the head of the government's Defence Export Services Organisation in 1990, serving until 1992. The following year, he became clerk to the Worshipful Company of Leathersellers, and then in 1996 he was appointed Deputy Master of Trinity House and Chairman of the General Lighthouse Authority. He retired in 2002 [1] and was appointed a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in that year's New Year Honours. [2] He had been appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1990 New Year Honours. [3]

He subsequently served as Minister for Coordination of Defence in the early years of the Second World War.

He commanded a minesweeper, a frigate and then a destroyer before taking over the aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious and then achieving higher command in the Navy. He served as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff from 1995 to 1998: in that capacity he played a key role in the 1998 Strategic Defence Review carried out by the Labour Government that had come to power a year earlier.

He saw active service in the Second World War and later commanded two frigates before achieving high command in the Navy. John Cunningham (Royal Navy officer)

Admiral of the Fleet Sir John Henry Dacres Cunningham was a Royal Navy officer. A qualified senior navigator, he became Director of Plans at the Admiralty in 1930. He saw action as Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet during the Second World War with responsibility for the allied landings at Anzio and in the south of France. He served as First Sea Lord in the late 1940s: his focus was on implementing the Government's policy of scrapping many serviceable ships.

Mark Stanhope

Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope, is a retired Royal Navy officer. After serving as a submarine commander, he commanded a frigate and then commanded an aircraft carrier on operational patrol off Sierra Leone. He went on to be Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation and then Commander-in-Chief Fleet. He served as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval staff, the professional head of the Royal Navy, from July 2009 to April 2013. In this role he advised the British Government on the deployment of naval forces during operations around Libya. He was succeeded by Admiral Sir George Zambellas in April 2013.

Tony Radakin Senior British Naval officer

Admiral Sir Antony David Radakin, is a senior Royal Navy officer. He is presently the 24th Chief of the Defence Staff, the professional head of the British Armed Forces since November 2021, succeeding General Sir Nicholas Carter. Radakin also served as First Sea Lord, the professional head of the Naval Service from June 2019 to November 2021. He was Chief of Staff, Joint Forces Command, from 2016 to 2018, and the Second Sea Lord and Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff from 2018 to 2019.
