Paul Theodore Davenport, OC (born December 24,1946) was the tenth president of the University of Alberta and ninth president of the University of Western Ontario. [1]
Born and raised in Summit,New Jersey, [2] he graduated magna cum laude from Stanford University in 1969 with a BA in economics. He moved to Canada and earned an MA and Ph.D in economics from the University of Toronto. [3]
From 1973 until 1989,he taught economics at McGill University and from 1986 to 1989,he was Vice Principal for Planning &Computer Services. He served as president of the University of Alberta from 1989 until 1994,and became president of the University of Western Ontario on July 1,1994. [3] Davenport's tenure as President of the University of Alberta was tumultuous. Several years into his term,during a period of tight provincial budgets,he sought to close the Faculty of Dentistry and drop the Football program. [4] These controversial proposals proved unpopular and brought resistance on many fronts,including that of the university's Board of Governors,and he was not offered a second term. [4] [5]
He has honorary degrees from the University of Alberta (1994),the University of Toronto (2000),and the International University of Moscow (2002). [3] He was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur in 2001,one of only a few foreigners to be awarded this honour. He was also named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2002. [3] Among UWO students,especially the student newspaper The Gazette,he was often referred to as "the French knight."
He is a member of the economics department at UWO and continues to supervise theses and publish articles. His term ended 2009,making him only the third president of Western to serve longer than ten years. He was succeeded by Amit Chakma.
Davenport is the chair of the board of governors of the University of Rwanda,and is also a member of Rwandan president Paul Kagame's Presidential Advisory Council. [6]

Orbinski was the 2016-17 Fulbright Visiting professor at the University of California,Irvine,and as of September 1,2017,he is professor and inaugural director of the Dahdaleh Institute of Global Health Research at York University in Toronto,Ontario,Canada. He was previously the CIGI Chair in Global Health Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs and Wilfrid Laurier University (2012-2017),Chair of Global Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (2010-2012) and full professor at the Faculty of Medicine,University of Toronto (2003-2012),where he was the founding Saul Rae Fellow at Massey College. Orbinski's current research interests focus on the health impacts of climate change,medical humanitarianism,intervention strategies around emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases,and global health governance.
Ivey Business School is the main business school of the University of Western Ontario,located in London,Ontario,Canada. It offers full-time undergraduate and graduate programs and also maintains two teaching facilities in Toronto and Hong Kong for its EMBA and Executive Education programs. Roger Charles Jackson,is a Canadian academic and Olympic gold medallist rower. He won the only gold medal for Canada at the 1964 Summer Olympics,in the coxless pair with George Hungerford. The same year they were awarded the Lou Marsh Trophy. Jackson also competed at the 1968 Olympics and finished eleventh in the single sculls event. At the 1972 Olympics he was a crew member of the Canadian boat which finished twelfth in the coxed fours competition.

The Royal Canadian Numismatic Association was founded in 1950. It is a nonprofit association for coin collectors and other people interested in Canadian numismatics. It has members throughout Canada and in other countries. At times,it also works with the Canadian Association for Numismatic Education (CAFNE),an arms length organization,which is defined by the CRA as a Canadian educational and charitable organization. Western Libraries is the library system of the University of Western Ontario in London,Ontario. In 1898,the university Senate appointed James Waddell Tupper as the University of Western Ontario's first University Librarian. In 1918,John Davis Barnett founded the Western Libraries collection with a donation of 40,000 books from his personal library. Before this donation,the collection held less than 1000 different works.
Janice Gurney is a Canadian contemporary artist born in Winnipeg,Manitoba. She graduated University of Manitoba in 1973 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours degree and later received a Master of Visual Studies degree from University of Toronto in 2007 with a collaborative degree in Book History and Print Culture. She went on to get a PhD in Art and Visual Culture at Western University in 2012.
