Paul McCarthy (born 27 August 1963) is an Irish former rugby union player and coach.

Career

From Cork, McCarthy represented local amateur club Cork Constitution during his career, playing in the newly formed All-Ireland League in the 1990s, and also played for Munster, featuring in the side that famously beat 1991 Rugby World Cup winners Australia in 1992. [1] McCarthy also won five caps for Ireland between 1992 and 1993, and represented the Barbarians. [2]

Outside of rugby, McCarthy was a business development manager for ABB Ireland, which he combined with a part-time scrum coach role with Munster from the 2002–03 season. [2] From the 2010–11 season, McCarthy was appointed Munster's full-time scrum coach, and spent a week with New Zealand's scrum coach Mike Cron, [3] but due to cost cutting by the province, McCarthy's contract with Munster was not renewed at the end of the 2012–13 season, despite McCarthy having earned widespread praise for his work. Tomás OLeary Rugby player

Tomás O'Leary is an Irish former rugby union player who played as a scrum-half. O'Leary played most of his career in the United Rugby Championship with Munster, where he was part of the team that won the Heineken Cup in 2006 and again in 2008. He also played in the English Premiership with London Irish, and the Top 14 with Montpellier. Internationally, he represented Ireland, where he was a member of the team that won the 2009 Six Nations Championship and Grand Slam. Also in 2009, he was selected for the British & Irish Lions, though injury prevented him from touring with the squad. O'Leary retired from professional rugby in July 2017.

Dónal Óg Cusack is an Irish hurling coach and hurler who plays for Cork Premier Championship club Cloyne. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 16 seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a goalkeeper. Noted for his innovative and sometimes controversial approach as a player and his championing of the cause of player welfare, Cusack is also regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation.
