Paul Anthony Lynden Singer, CVO is an Australian public servant and naval officer,who served as the 12th official secretary to the governor-general of Australia under Sir Peter Cosgrove from August 2018 and David Hurley from July 2019 to July 2024. He is a serving officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve,and formerly an active lieutenant in the Royal Australian Navy.
Singer enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in January 1996 as a principal warfare officer. He served on numerous vessels,including as the warfare and boarding officer onboard HMAS Anzac (2001–2003) and as the executive officer of HMAS Launceston (2003–2005). From 2005–2006 he was the course implementation officer at HMAS Cerberus. [1] In May 2008 he transferred to the active reserve as a lieutenant.
In 2008,Singer took up a position at Government House as the Manager Strategic Program and Operations. He managed the 2011 Royal Visit and Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. [1] In 2015,he was appointed as the Director of Operations at Government House and ran the day to day management of the house. [1]
In 2016,Singer was appointed as Deputy Official Secretary and,in 2018,as the Official Secretary. [1] As Official Secretary he served as the ex-officio Secretary of the Order of Australia and secretary of the Australian Bravery Decoration Council. [2]
Singer was appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order in the 2016 New Year Honours, [3] and an Officer of the Order of St John on 19 February 2021. [4] During King Charles III's visit to Australia in 2024,Singer was advanced to Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. [5] [6]

Born in Queensland,Taylor entered the Royal Australian Naval College at the age of thirteen. Graduating as dux of his year in 1957,he later specialised in navigation and served during the Vietnam War. Commanding HMAS Vampire as well as HMAS Torrens,Taylor planned and coordinated the deployment of Australian ships during the Gulf War. Retiring from the navy in 1997,Taylor died from lung cancer in 2002 at the age of 62.

As torpedo officer of the 1st Submarine Flotilla in the Mediterranean theatre,McNicoll was decorated with the George Medal in 1941 for disarming enemy ordnance. He served aboard HMS King George V from 1942,sailing in support of several Arctic convoys and taking part in the Allied invasion of Sicily. McNicoll was posted for staff duties with the Admiralty from September 1943 and was involved in the planning of the Normandy landings. He returned to Australia in October 1944.
Vice Admiral Robert Andrew Kevin Walls,was a senior officer of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). In 42 years of service,Walls commanded HMA Ships Tobruk,Moreton and Brisbane,and served as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and Maritime Commander Australia,before his career culminated in his appointment as Vice Chief of the Defence Force from April 1995 until his retirement in March 1997.

Vice Admiral Mark David Hammond is a senior officer in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN),serving as the Chief of Navy since July 2022. He joined the RAN as an electronics technician in 1986 and,after being accepted for officer training,graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1990. Much of Hammond's career has been spent in the Submarine Service.
