Paulo Alexandre Matos Cunha (born 22 August 1971) is a Portuguese lawyer and politician,from the Social Democratic Party. [1]
He has been a professor at Lusíada University of Porto,since 1994 and at IPCA in Barcelos,since 2021. He was a member of the Municipal Assembly,between 2001 and 2005,of Vila Nova de Famalicão,where he was a member of the City Council between 2009 and 2013,being elected Mayor in 2013,a position which he served for two terms,until 2021. He is currently serving as Vice President of the Social Democratic Party since 3 July 2022. [3] He is the President of the Social Democratic Party of the Braga District and also former Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão. [4]
Vila Nova de Famalicão is a Portuguese town with a population of approximately 133,048 inhabitants in an area of 201,59 km2,subdivided into 49 parishes. Inserted in the Braga District,in the North Region of Portugal and in the Sub-Region of Vale do Ave,global positioned at 41⁰24’36”N | 8⁰31’13.53”W. The population of Vila Nova was created in 1205 with the charter given by the King Sancho I. The municipality was created in 1835 as a detachment from Barcelos and was elevated to the category of “Vila”with the charter given by the Queen D. Maria II. In 1985,approved by National Assembly,Vila Nova de Famalicão was elevated to the category of "city". The inhabitants of Famalicão are called Famalicenses.

Greater Metropolitan Area of Minho is a former administrative division in Portugal. Founded in 2004,it consisted of 12 municipalities in the north of the country:Amares,Barcelos,Braga,Cabeceiras de Basto,Fafe,Guimarães,Póvoa de Lanhoso,Terras de Bouro,Vieira do Minho,Vila Nova de Famalicão,Vila Verde and Vizela,all of them part of the former Braga District.
