Major General Pavel Ismailovich Ergashev is an Uzbek military leader who is a Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan. He was appointed to this position on 11 January 2018 [1] [2] and was dismissed in March 2021. [3] He is the son of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Ismail Ergashev. He was among 12 high-ranking officials were banned from entering the European Union for a year in November 2005 for their role in putting down the 2005 Andijan unrest. [4] At the time, he was a Colonel who commanded of a detachment of from the Ministry of Defense. [5] On 4 September 2017, he was appointed by Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the post of Acting Deputy Minister of Defense and commander of the troops of the Southwestern Special Military District. [6] [7] [8]
He was awarded the Shon-Sharaf Order by President Islam Karimov in August 2013. [9] [10]

The Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan is a body for the training of highly qualified military personnel for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was originally established as an inter-service educational institution that serves the purpose of training officers for higher level leadership positions. Cadets who study at the academy are enrolled for at least 2 years. It was the first institution of its kind to be established on the militaries of Central Asia. The school requires all cadets to be fluent in the Uzbek language as well as have a basic knowledge of Russian.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan is the highest-ranking military officer of in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, who is responsible for maintaining the operational command of the military and control over three of the five service branches. Unlike the Minister of Defence, the Chief of the General Staff is required to be a commissioned officer who at least holds the rank of Colonel (Polkovnik). Another differentiator between the two positions is that the Chief of the General Staff is not political position while the defense minister can be an active member of the political discourse.

Since 30 December 2021, he is the Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection. He was the Ecological Party's presidential candidate in 2021 presidential elections. He got 4.1%.

Bernara Rakhimovna Karieva is an Soviet and Uzbekistani former ballet dancer, prima ballerina, choreographer and politician. She was prima ballerina of the Navoi Theater from 1956 to 1996 and its artistic director between 1994 and 2002. Karieva ran the Youth Ballet of Uzbekistan community from 1979 to 1983 and chaired both the Union of Theater Workers and the Coordinating Council for South-East Asian theaters. She was an elected deputy of the Congress of People's Deputies of the Soviet Union from 1989 to 1991 and was on the Committee of the Commission of the Council of Nationalities on the Development of Culture, Language, National and International Traditions, Protection of Historical Heritage. Karieva has received various state awards such as the Order of the Badge of Honour, the People's Artist of the USSR, the USSR State Prize, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour and the Medal of Pushkin.
