Peltarion is an AI software company with offices in Stockholm and London.
In June 2022, the company was acquired by the video game developer King, which is owned by Activision Blizzard. [1]
Peltarion was founded in 2004 by Luka Crnkovic-Friis and Måns Erlandsson. [2] [3] The company was originally an AI consultancy that helped Tesla Inc., General Electric, and the U.S. space agency NASA use neural networks. [4] [5] Since 2016, the company has built an AI platform which has been used to help doctors to segment cancer tumors and farmers to optimize yields. [6]
The Peltarion Platform is a cloud-based operational AI platform that allows users to build and deploy deep learning models. [7]
The service offers an end-to-end platform that allows users do everything from pre-processing data to building models and producing them. All of this runs in the cloud and developers get access to a graphical user interface for building and testing their models. [8]
Peltarion has a strong philosophy behind the product and wants to advance humankind by bringing AI everywhere. Quote from chief executive Luka Crnkovic-Friis:
“AI-powered software shouldn’t be dominated by a few large technology companies. We strongly feel that the best way of making sure that the technology is used for good is to make sure that more people can use it.” [9]
Nvidia Corporation is an American multinational technology company incorporated in Delaware and based in Santa Clara, California. It is a software and fabless company which designs graphics processing units (GPUs), application programming interface (APIs) for data science and high-performance computing as well as system on a chip units (SoCs) for the mobile computing and automotive market. Nvidia is a dominant supplier of artificial intelligence hardware and software. Its professional line of GPUs are used in workstations for applications in such fields as architecture, engineering and construction, media and entertainment, automotive, scientific research, and manufacturing design.

Kaggle is a data science competition platform and online community of data scientists and machine learning practitioners under Google LLC. Kaggle enables users to find and publish datasets, explore and build models in a web-based data science environment, work with other data scientists and machine learning engineers, and enter competitions to solve data science challenges.
Google Brain was a deep learning artificial intelligence research team under the umbrella of Google AI, a research division at Google dedicated to artificial intelligence. Formed in 2011, Google Brain combined open-ended machine learning research with information systems and large-scale computing resources. The team has created tools such as TensorFlow, which allow for neural networks to be used by the public, with multiple internal AI research projects. The team aims to create research opportunities in machine learning and natural language processing. The team was merged into former Google sister company DeepMind to form Google DeepMind in April 2023.
DeepMind Technologies Limited, doing business as Google DeepMind, is a British-American artificial intelligence research laboratory which serves as a subsidiary of Google. Founded in the UK in 2010, it was acquired by Google in 2014, The company is based in London, with research centres in Canada, France, Germany and the United States.
Headquartered in Tel Aviv Cortica utilizes unsupervised learning methods to recognize and analyze digital images and video. The technology developed by the Cortica team is based on research of the function of the human brain.
TensorFlow is a free and open-source software library for machine learning and artificial intelligence. It can be used across a range of tasks but has a particular focus on training and inference of deep neural networks.
An AI accelerator is a class of specialized hardware accelerator or computer system designed to accelerate artificial intelligence and machine learning applications, including artificial neural networks and machine vision. Typical applications include algorithms for robotics, Internet of Things, and other data-intensive or sensor-driven tasks. They are often manycore designs and generally focus on low-precision arithmetic, novel dataflow architectures or in-memory computing capability. As of 2018, a typical AI integrated circuit chip contains billions of MOSFET transistors. A number of vendor-specific terms exist for devices in this category, and it is an emerging technology without a dominant design.
